I gave Nicole a sickening glare, however, she did not seem to notice.
What she had said to and about my new friend was not only a huge slap in Margaret's face, but Margaret would be a great mother towards the child whom she gave birth to. I later discovered that I was far from being wrong.
I was afraid that Margaret would do something dangerous. Slap her. Shove her. Shoot and possibly kill her. Instead, Margaret stayed where she was, not moving a single muscle.
I did not have to guess that she was stunned. I would have reacted the same way.
After everything that she had been through, did she really deserve this? No, her past did not give her the right to bully and cause me harm, however, did she need her daughter to be taken away from her? To be ripped out of her arms?
Margaret went through one of the worst experiences that anyone, especially men, can go through, and I can safely say that she is a survivor.
I will never know how it exactly went down, but I do know that it is wrong and pure evil.
Readers, if you know that, then you are already taking a step in the right direction.
Silence filled the room. Nobody moved. Nobody said a word. Not even me. I just stared at the two girls who were staring at each other, and Rene was not cooing because she had fallen asleep. I had to hold in my giggles because Rene's little feet were up in the air.
Strange baby.
Boy, was I so right!
The silence was beginning to creep me out, and I prayed that either Margaret or Nicole would just say something. As if reading my thoughts, Margaret broke the silence.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"What is the matter, Margaret? Have you not figured it out?" Nicole taunted.
"Tell me what the heck you are talking about!"
"My, my. For a biological mother, you sure are not bright."
I could not stay silent any longer. I had to intervene.
"That is enough!" I ordered. I pushed myself off the door and stomped up to Margaret. "Enough with the insults, Nicole. If you knew how my friend Margaret became pregnant in the first place, then maybe you would feel at least some remorse."
"On the contrary, I do know. Ava told me...what is your name?"
"Margie. Margie Morgan. I am the new Monster Protector."
"Oh my...oh my gosh." She pressed her hands against her cheeks and cackled like a wicked witch. "Hahaha! You two are friends? Ha! What a joke!"
Margaret slowly walked towards her. "Margie may have taken my place, but I do not blame her for doing so. If anything, it is everybody else's faults except her and her sister, Scarlett."
When she mentioned my older sister, the door opened, and Scarlett poked her head in.
"What is going on in here?" my sister asked. Her voice sounded angry than concerned.
I nearly jumped out of my shoes and rushed to her. "Sis, please. This is not a good time. You had better go."
"Nobody is going anywhere!" Nicole proclaimed. She pulled out a gun - yes, a gun - and pointed it at us. First, at Margaret. Then, at me and my sister.
"Well, that is my cue," Scarlett said. She was about to leave the room.
Nicole pulled the trigger, and a gunshot was heard.
Scarlett and I screamed when we realized that the bullet had gone into the wall. The wall that was the closest to my sister.
Scarlett was ticked. "Are you trying to kill us?!"
"That was a warning shot," Nicole said. "You three girls are not leaving this room. So shut that door!"
My sister narrowed her eyebrows, for she did not want to stick around, but stayed in the room. Nicole watched me intently as I closed the door.
"Jeez, girl. How long have you had that gun?" Margaret asked.
"Quiet!" She aimed her gun at the ceiling and fired another warning shot. Scarlett and I hugged each other, and Margaret did not seem scared. Just annoyed.
Nicole aimed the gun at the window and shot at it a few times. The glass shattered and fell either on the floor or on the grass.
"I am making the rules now, so listen up!" She forced us to the broken window. "All of us, including my baby..."
Margaret growled at that, but did not say anything.
"...are going to leave this room from this window and go to my car. Once there, we will all get into my car, and I will drive us somewhere...safe."
"She means that she will drive us off a cliff," Margaret told me and my sister. "I am familiar with what villains do to hostages."
"That is it!" Nicole aimed her gun at Margaret...
...and shot her.
Margaret fell, but did not utter a cry. She landed on her back and breathed heavily.
She had gotten shot in the shoulder.
"Margaret!" I shouted. I desperately wanted to help her and hopefully stop the bleeding. Though, Nicole had other plans.
She gripped my red shirt. "Leave her."
"No! She will bleed to death!"
"Good. It will serve her right for trying to take back my baby."
"Her baby!"
I must have been so mad, so ticked, that I kicked her where the sun does not shine.
Nicole let out a scream of agony and fell to her knees. Her gun slipped out of her grasp and clattered to the ground.
"Whoa. Margie," Scarlett said. "I did not know that you had it in you. Then again, I should not be surprised. You are the Monster Protector after all." She quickly grabbed the gun and pointed it at Nicole.
I noticed somebody standing by the door - and could not believe my eyes.
The baby, Rene, was standing all by herself.
"You are bad," Rene said. "You are so bad."
