Little Amy suddenly burst out laughing. Was she laughing at what Gabi Dollson said? 'Cause she thought that it was a joke? I do not know. But I do know this.
This situation was anything but some joke.
I brought Amy closer to me until her little body was resting against my chest. I felt sweat pour from my forehead and frowned at the doll. I was not sure whether to be mad at or afraid of Gabi.
Gabi smirked. "Jeez. What is the matter with you, Jackson? You seem nervous."
When she had pointed that out, I tried my hardest to not show more of it. However, I could not. It was just not that easy, especially when there is a doll and a dummy who can walk and talk like humans.
"Y-you are not taking m-my sister's voice box," I stuttered.
"Oh, dear. Looks like that you desire to do it the hard way." She clapped her wooden hands. "Vincent!"
Milo and I locked our eyes on the dummy as he staggered up to us, placed his wooden hands on our legs...and shoved us down!
Dang! For a dummy, he had incredible strength!
Milo and I let out startled cries as we found ourselves falling to the hard floor of the hallway.
Amy rolled out of my grasps and onto the floor. She had on this big smile and cooed happily as if she were enjoying rolling around. And she was.
Gabi Dollson and Vincent hurried past me and my best friend. Vincent scooped up Amy and followed his girlfriend downstairs.
"Come on, Milo," I said as I scrambled to my feet. "We cannot let them leave with her."
Milo groaned as he got up, and we scurried down the stairs. When we reached the bottom, we glanced in all directions. But there was no sign of them.
"Jackson, look," Milo said, pointing to the front door.
I gasped. "Oh, no."
The front door was wide open.
