~~Mykenna stared out the window as the rain continued to fall with a half empty bottle of whiskey sitting dangerously close to her laptop. She didn’t care. If worse came to worse, she would get a new one and start the song all over again. It wasn’t like she would forget it. She closed her eyes tightly at the heartache she knew too well. She let her head hit the wall behind her and opened her eyes staring up at the ceiling.
She walked over to the stereo and put on a song Jaebeom had written. She backed away from the stereo and let it play. She walked to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water before making her way back to the alcove. She leaned her head back and just listened to the smooth voice she would probably never hear speak her name again. The tears trickled down her cheeks as the song kept playing.
Jaebeom moved his arm from over his eyes and sat up. He looked down at his hand to see the necklace Mykenna had left for him still in it. He held it to his chest and looked around at the glass all around him. His heart was heavy. He missed Mykenna terribly but was pretty sure she never wanted to see him again after how he behaved. He leaned forward and ran both his hands through his hair.
There was a knock on his office door. He looked over at it curious as to who would be here so early in the morning. He looked back at the floor when he saw the door open.
“You’re still here?” Jinyoung asked looking around the still glass covered office. His friend was at least sitting on the couch this time.
Jaebeom just nodded.
“I see you found the necklace.”Jinyoung smiled happily and then tucked his hands in his pockets. “You never talked to Mykenna did you?”
Jaebeom shook his head. “My phone is dead and I feel like an idiot.”
“You are an idiot.” Jinyoung said sitting next to him.
Jaebeom looked at him. “Have you heard from her? Is she here?” He asked hopeful that she would come in to work and they could talk.
Jinyoung shook his head. “I haven’t heard from her. She’s not here either. She had her audition this morning.”
Jaebeom bent his head. “Where was the audition?”
“It was near the YG building. The director made a special trip for her.” Jinyoung said standing up. “Go wait for her at her penthouse so you two can make up and do whatever you two do after a fight.” He waved his hands.
“We've never fought before.” Jaebeom stared at the necklace in his hands. The words written on the puzzle piece like tiny daggers in his chest.
Jinyoung rolled his eyes. “I've been in enough dramas to know you need to go and beg for her back since, knowing you, you said something dumb messing all of this up.” He forced his friend to his feet and started pushing him toward the door.
Jaebeom just let Jinyoung push him. He didn’t have the strength to fight back. “I ruined any chance of forgiveness.”
“It’s Mykenna. She’s the love of your life. She’ll forgive you.” Jinyoung forced Jaebeom’s hoodie over his head and pushed him the rest of the way out of the door.
“I don’t deserve that.” Jaebeom looked at him.
“Probably not, but go before you miss this chance. I’ll clean this up.”
Jaebeom shook his head. “I…I tore up all the pictures and…”
“I will fix them. You’re not going to get her back standing here with me.” Jinyoung closed the door to Jaebeom’s office and looked at the glass on the floor. He shook his head. “I need a broom and tape.” He said with a heavy sigh.
Jaebeom stood there staring at the glass on his office door. He looked down at his hands and put up his hood. He walked past Mykenna’s office on his way out and looked at the open door. “Kitten?” He said in such a small voice he didn’t recognize himself. He walked in the office and sat at her desk. Her computer was off and her guitar was gone. If she was here, the guitar would be sitting on the couch. He looked at her desk and saw their picture; the same one that managed ro miss his wrath last night. He closed his eyes and bent his head. He forced himself to get up and keep walking. He looked up at the sky as he made his way out of the building. The rain was coming down hard. He pulled his hoodie tight around his head. Maybe he would forgive himself if he walked through this.
Mykenna rested her chin on her knees as she fiddled with the now empty whiskey bottle. She tipped the bottle by the opening on its neck as she stared at her laptop screen. There was nothing on it but words. Words she had written for the heartache she caused herself. She scoffed and got up. She made her way to her bedroom. She didn’t want to be in here for any longer than she had to. There were too many memories here. She kept her head down as she went to shower.
Mykenna pulled on a tank top and a pair of shorts. She saw her phone blinking and just left it. She didn’t even want to look at it. She knew it wasn’t Jaebeom magically wanting to talk to her. She rolled her eyes at herself as she made her way back to her stereo. She decided to replay some of Jaebeom’s soundcloud playlist. She stood there for a moment and then sat on the couch burying her head in her hands begging for the knot in her chest to ease just a bit.
Jaebeom looked up at the door to Mykenna’s penthouse and rested his head on it. His hands were shaking as he tried to punch in his code. He could hear his own music playing from behind it making his hands shake even more. He cursed after the third try messing up his code and knocked instead hoping she would hear him.
Mykenna heard what sounded like knocking. She thought she was hearing things but got up anyway and made her way to the foyer. She sighed as she opened the door. She backed up surprised to see Jaebeom standing there soaked to the skin in a heavy hoodie and black jeans. He was breathing heavy and his hair was matted to his face. “J?”~~
