Light snow flakes fell on my black cotton trench coat as I inhaled another hit off of my cancer stick. I breathed the toxic out slowly as I stared at the white beyond. I only had 30 minutes until I had to go back to my under paid job as an office clerk, where all I did was wait on people who thought they were better than me snap at me to go fetch them coffee or copies from the printer. I dreaded breaking my peaceful silence to go back inside even if it was 30° below out here. I tossed my cigarette in the untouched snow and opened the office door. I took my coat off, draped it across the back of my chair, and layed my purse on my desk. Not 10 seconds later I heard my name being called. I turned to see my overweight, perv of a boss call me to his office. I walked as slowly as I could until I reached his door and quietly stood in front of his desk. "Yes, Mr. Novak" I stated blandly. "Please call me Jim, Victoria." he said with an ugly smirk. I scoffed under my breath, "What can I help you with Sir?" I asked as he mindlessly stared at my red buttoned up blouse. I coughed to get his attention and he looked up at my face not caring that I could see him ogling me. "Nothing important," he said, proving my suspicion that this is just some lame excuse for me to be alone with him in his office. I mentally rolled my eyes and gritted my teeth. "I need you to take my wife's clothes to the laundromat." he said as he threw a credit card at my chest as racked his eyes down to my feet and back to my face. "Hmm... and get yourself something nice too." He said with a disgusting smile. I laughed sarcastically, as if I'd misheard him. "You can't be serious? This has nothing to do with my job!" My voice raised and stern, I spat out angrily, heat festered in my body and I boiled with fury. I was fed up with everyone's bullshit today and he just had to push me over my limit. I chucked his flimsy credit card right into his left eye, he jumped up and yelped in pain. "You stupid bitch," he spit with nothing but venom. He started to come towards me but I rushed out of his office. I yanked my purse off of my desk and my coat off my chair yelling, "I fucking quit!". I bolted out of the door and quickly unlocked my car and started the engine. I was so shaky from all of the adrenaline that still pumped through my body I could barely drive straight. I attempted to get my cigarettes out of my coat, but I couldn't find them, they must've fallen out when I was leaving. So instead I tried to turn the radio on to calm my nerves, mistakenly I turned the AC on high. I didn't notice untill the cold air blasted me in the face. I looked down quickly trying to turn it off, but suddenly loud honks came from in front of me and I looked up in time to see myself on the wrong side of the road. I yanked the wheel to the right and landed my car through a wooden fence. My windshield busted as I landed and I attempt to fling my hands up to block the glass before I felt the glass cut my right forearm. My head hit the steering wheel and bounced twice. My air bag deployed and sent my head flying backwards into the seat. I sat there for what seemed like forever and tried to regain the breath that was just knocked out of me. I was in a dizzy haze as I looked down to see blood drip all over my hands. I could feel my eyelids getting heavy and nothing but darkness filled my eyesight. I tried as hard as I could to stay awake, fearing I had a concussion. I was going in and out of a foggy haze for what seemed like hours before I heard sirens in the background. A bust had come through my window and I felt myself being yanked out. I opened my eyes to see a dark haired man hovering above me. "Do you know your name?" He asks, as if I was deaf. I could barely nod my head before my eyesight became blurry and my hearing faded.
