White. All I see is white. Everywhere I look it's just... white."What? Where.. am I?" I say as I see something flies next to me. Trying to see what that was is like trying to look directly at those little squiggly things that pop up in your peripheral vision.

"You will never save her." Said a Deep intimidating voice, "You know you cannot protect her for much longer. She, along with you, will die with the rest of this planet. But, if you kill her right now, you will live. Everyone shall be unharmed. And life on Earth shall live on. Just destroy the girl."

"No! Never" I Shouted.

Laughing, "You have courage boy. But, in time, you will fulfill your destiny."

"What do you mean?" I Say perplexed.

"You now hold the key to the fate of this world." The voice echoes out and I see a black tunnel. I'm flying super fast towards it, like the feeling you get in those "falling dreams". I can't see a thing now. Just darkness.

I drift through a void. I can't see anything. But I keep hearing a muffled voice. "...s...k!!", "h...s...w...k!"

I finally start hearing it clearer, "He's awake!"

My vision focuses on an excited Alice wrapping her arms around my neck.

"Hey." I barely whisper. "How are you?"

"Amazing because you're finally awake after so long. I've missed you!" she responds.

"How long have I been out?" I ask.

"Two months..." She says calmly."Dr. McLides said you won't wake up. But I knew you would. I just knew it."

"Thank you. I would have done the same." I say.

She looks at me, crying, "I know."

I ease back, looking around. The white ceiling is centered with an air duct that spreads cool air quite evenly throughout the small square room.

I have oxygen tubes in my nose to make sure I breathe normally, and -Ugk- there's something in my shoulder... Stitches. I ignore the slight pain I feel every time I move my shoulder.

Alice is just sitting in a chair, watching a cartoon now. And my bed is the usual hospital bed, with rails and clean sheets. Typical.

"I have something to show you. Watch this." Alice says as she shows me a news article.

It's a guy on FOX News in a black tuxedo. He's talking about what happen when the meteor struck.

"Matthew is a hero. Yesterday when the meteor struck the earth, he saved Alice from its debris. He covered her with himself, shielding her. But, he wasn't so lucky... While he was protecting her, a meteorite broke off and hit him in his left shoulder. We're not clear of the information that he'll survive this ordeal, but keep him deep in our thoughts."

The video clicks out, I'm amazed.

Alice looks at me, and kisses me, "Thank you, for saving my life." She says.

I look at her, "I'd do anything to keep you from harm's way."

She looks at me and giggles, "No one knows that you're awake except me. They're coming to unplug your machines in about five minutes. The doctor thought your brain was dead, but you body wasn't."

I'm surprised."Let's wait until they come in to do so."

A few minutes pass, and he comes in to unplug me. Alice's hugging me, tears still streaming down her soft, smooth face.

"I'm sorry miss, but it's time." Dr. McLides says calmly.

Alice shouts back, "No!! He's awake. See?"

"I'm sorry but his brain is not. He's gone." McLides replies but then dropped everything he was holding, and stared in amazement as I raise my hand, "Hey Doc."

He turns around swiftly and quickly walks out of my hospital room. The door closes slowly but just then, Alice's parents walk in to take her home but are surprised to see I'm alive and awake.

Alice's father looks at me, "I want to ring your neck."

Wow. What a warm welcome.

"But...", he continues, "I still thank you for saving my daughter." He sits down jokingly.

"It was an honor to do that, Sir." I reply.

He gets up from the chair and calmly walks out. It's just me and Alice again.

"I was starting to think you wouldn't wake up. Every time I thought that I started to cry. But I was starting to believe you we're actually gone." She says to me.

"That won't happen, Alice." I say.

I look at her. She's wearing gray sweatpants and tight black tee that is obscured by a pink jacket. Her light brown hair is straitened with a few blond streaks. She's wearing makeup.

"Alice, there's something on your face." I say.

I want her to take that stuff off so I can see her true beauty.

"Oh, my bad," she says but then sees her makeup on the paper towel.

"That's better. Much better." I say.

She looks at me with a questioning face, "What do you mean?"

I respond, "I mean that you shouldn't wear makeup."

She blushes, "Thanks."

So as it turns out, I'm lucky. I survived a meteorite in the shoulder, and I'm leaving the hospital today. Stem cell research has me almost fully healed.

I'm walking out of the hospital with Alice. It's been so long since I had fresh air.

Yet for some odd reason, I'm feeling tired, and CRUNCH! My knees buckle and I fall into Alice's arm as she struggles to catches me. I feel weak but I'm able to stand and walk to the bright orange Chevy to go back to her house.

I jump in the back seat with Alice close behind. She snuggles and I silently, calmly, drift into sleep.

"You we're supposed to die, you and the girl! You both should have died in that phenomenon!!" A menacing voice echoes from all directions.

I shot back, "Who are you!" No answer... Then suddenly I'm stripped from the smooth ground and torn apart. Limbs, hands, everything disintegrates.

"Ahhhhhh!!!" I shout, scaring Alice to the other side of the back seat.

Her dad swerves the car, "What's going on back there!? You almost made me crash this car!"

"I'm sorry. I had a nightmare." I say, guilt starting to swell.

"Well what happened babe?" Alice looks at me.

I just look at her with worry."I'll tell you later ok?"

"Ugh ok." She responds, making me laugh a bit. What did that dream mean? It was probably just a horrific imagiAliceive speculation.

I lose my focus on that nightmare as I look over to her. She's looking out the window to the small skyscrapers of this large city. Her beautiful blue eyes are filled with joy. I love her so much. She never gave up on me, and I know anyone else would.

She looks at me, "Come to our spot tonight. Please?" She whispers.

"Ok, I will." I respond.

I wonder what happened to the Serine when the meteor struck.

I finally get home with a warm welcome from my parents. I knew they'd be happy, but I'm tired, so I walk to my room and fall asleep on my bed.
