The stars. They seemed to burn brighter when I met you. It was at a quite unknown stargazing spot where the smoggy skies that floated above the city finally seemed clear. You stood there with the wind blowing through your long dark hair. My heart fluttered from just seeing you. I know you knew I was there, but you didn't react. You just kept silently staring at the sky, sitting on a blanket you set on the ground. No words had to be exchanged to know that you were inviting me to sit on the empty cold space on your blanket. I made my way over, suddenly having a feeling of belonging. So, I sat there looking up at the sky. We made no eye contact but the sudden warmth of sitting next to someone was comforting enough for me to immediately trust you. I felt at peace at that spot. I curled up into a ball still staring up, looking for the constellations. It was hard as the sky was so bright. We sat there, inches apart. I was supposed to be here. I didn't know how to explain it, but I knew that my life was building up to this moment. The silence was striking and silently agreed on. I look down for a second to inhale the fresh air when I heard her gasp. I look up at her, staring at the sky. A gleam in her eyes and a small smile spreading across her features. She was so beautiful. I look up and see shooting stars spreading across the sky, making me gasp too. It was a comet shower. The falling stars seemed to sprinkle the sky, leaving faint trails of debris. I wasn't expecting that day to be so beautiful. And being with her made everything better. The stillness of the air started to become uncomfortable. I wanted to turn and talk to her, know everything about her. And so I waited for the perfect chance. Just as the stars stopped flying across the sky, I turned to her. I look at her and a gentle smile began to take over my features as she was already staring at me. We made eye contact and basked in the sudden feeling of hope and love. I knew at that moment that she and I were meant to be together for the rest of our lives.
