Flashback...

(A/N: this takes place to about seven years ago)

"The sunset looks pretty nice. Don't you think so, Riku?"

"Yeah." Riku and Rein were watching the sunset at the usual tree when they heard Sora calling them. "What is it, Sora?"

"I was walking to our Secret Spot when I heard this scary noise. Then I saw something. I think it might be a monster. Come on." Rein carefully slid off the tree before she and Riku followed Sora to their Secret Spot. "Hurry up!"

"Are you sure it's a monster, Sora? This isn't the first time you said you saw one."

"It's true, Riku! I saw it with my own eyes!"

"You sure you didn't just hear it this time?"

"Riku has a point, Sora. This isn't the first time."

"Well what difference does it make? There's a huge monster in there, I tell you!"

"All right. Suppose there is a monster. Do you think we can beat it by ourselves, Sora?"

"No problem. Let's do it!" Sora and Riku stood in front of the entrance of the Secret Spot and were about to walk in until Sora noticed Rein taking a few steps back. "Is something wrong, Rein? You're not scared, are you?" Rein looked down at her feet and nodded her head. "You don't have to go in with us if you're too scared to face the monster."

"I'm not scared of the monster. I'm scared that you and Riku might get hurt. I don't want to lose my two best friends."

"You're not going to lose us, Rein." Rein looked up at Riku when he held her hand in his. "As long as the three of us are together, we have nothing to worry about. We'll always be there for each other."

"Riku's right." Rein looked at Sora when he held her other hand. "Now let's go. The three of us together will get pass anything."

"Right." Sora, Riku, and Rein walked into the Secret Spot and didn't find anything inside the cave. "I don't see any monsters."

"But there has to be! I heard it!"

"It wasn't a monster that you heard, Sora." Riku pointed up before Sora and Rein looked up at the open ceiling of the cave. "It was just the wind."

"Aw, man! I wish it was a monster!" Sora placed his hands on the back of his head when he noticed something on the wall on the other side of the cave. "What's that over there?"

Riku and Rein looked towards where Sora was looking and saw some kind of large door on the wall. Riku walked over to the door as Sora and Rein followed him. He tried to find a way to open the door but couldn't find any.

"I guess there isn't much left to do in here."

"Hey, Sora. Rein." Sora and Rein were looking around the cave then looked at Riku. "When we grow up, let's get off this island. Just the three of us. We'll go on real adventures, not this kid stuff!"

"I've always wondered what it will like to go on a real adventure. I'm in!" Rein and Riku looked at Sora who was still thinking of his answer. "What about you Sora?"

"Alright! I'm in too. But what can we do until then?"

"Hey, you know the new girl at the mayor's house? Let's go meet her."

"Yay! I need someone to talk to other than you boys."

"What's wrong with talking to us?"
