Many of the younger thieves had sprinted to the shadows of the ruins and blended in so well as to be almost invisible. The well-trained older thieves stood in front of the children with sober faces. A few held katanas and daggers, and others held bows that were aimed at the sky. Stanton clutched a bow in one hand but did not notch an arrow. The other Empire Leaders stood next to him, staring at the sky for any sight of Savini.
"You said you heard something?" Tear whispered to Stanton, and he gave a light nod.
"Something not human," he whispered back, scanning the skies.

Farniir kept on lightly tapping his mechanical eye, and it whizzed around with quiet speed.
"Could it be an animal?" Pom muttered. Razor grunted in agreement.
"Perhaps someone should someone go investigate," Pom suggested quietly, as crickets echoed around them.
"I have some guards that I can se-" Maelstrom began, but Stanton cut him off quickly.
"No, we wait here," he snarled.
"Why don't we just go find and kill Savini?" Mael hissed, aiming a gun to the sky when an oddly shaped cloud flew by.
"We already explained this. He is coming here and we are going to fight him," Stanton said tiredly.
"All this waiting is rubbish! We should be-"

"Silence!" Farniir suddenly hissed. His eye glowed brighter and flicked around the forests. "Something is here," he muttered, his strange electronic pupil narrowing on a tree.

Suddenly there was a burst of light, and a beam of searing hot energy whizzed by and hit Tear in the shoulder.

She let out a short cry of pain and stumbled back.
"Are you kidding me?" Stanton hissed. "What is it with everyone and getting hurt?"

Con and Farniir stepped forward and gently held onto her shoulders.
"Get her to one of our healers," Stanton growled, jerking his head to the thieves.
"No, send her to our healers. They can heal her faster," Maelstrom said. Stanton whirled around angrily,

"Will you stop being so arrogant?" he asked through gritted teeth.
"Not my fault that you're all prehistoric," he muttered.
"We have technology too, you idiot!" Stanton retorted.
"We are more advanced, and in some ways we are e-" He was cut off by an explosion that echoed from far away. They both stopped talking and faced the distance.

Smoke was rising and a battle cry arose from the smoke.
