The Lab

"Hi everyone and welcome back to Duncan's lab! Today we'll be checking out some-"

"AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I paused. Was that...a girl screaming? My questions were soon answered as a girl came crashing down into my foutain. I looked at her for a long time. "H-Hi?" I finally said helping her out. She looked angry, scared, heartbroken. She looked at me, "Hi..." She said softly. She was a mess! Her hair was frizzy, her dress torn, she had burn marks on her, and some dirt on her. She started to dust herself off when she nearly fell down because of the pain. She nearly fell down before I caught her.

"Your hurt. Here, let me help. You got burn marks and scartches all over you. I'm Duncan. And this is my lab." I smiled helping her to my medical room. She smiled at me, "I'm Kim. Kim Nanosounds." She smiled weakly as I set her down, and I proceeded to grab some burn medcine.

"This might sting Kim..." I said softly before dabbing her knee in the medcine. she flinched but relaxed ater a moment. I smiled and continued to rub her burn marks in the medicine. After that she told me about Sjin and her adventures. Then she got to the point where he and Sips blew her up, I frowned and swore I wouldn't let anyone else hurt her like that again.

"I'm sorry to hear that Kim.." I say. She sighed, "I really liked him. But then he threw me out, I swear I'll get revenge on him if its the last thing I do!" Where had I heard that before. I shrugged, didn't matter. "Well...It sounds like your on the hunt for a new teacher." I said. Kim looked at me, "What are you suggesting?" She crossed her arms.

"Well...you could be my apprentice. It does get pretty lonely here. You know, being called a "Mad Scientist" and all." I laughed sadly, "Nobody wants to come near you. Their afraid." She frowned, "Well...Duncan Jones, I'd like to be your apprentice. And your friend. If that's cool." I happily smiled, "That's great! Your tour and employmenship starts tomarrow! Get some rest. You'll need it!" I laughed, "Take my bed, I'll be up all night." With that I left her to rest. Happy as can be.

Why did I tell him my name?!?! I meantally slapped myself, idiot Kim. Perhaps though Sjin won't find me. Since I told Duncan my real name. And he didn't seem scared. The nether Queen Kim Nano Richards didn't suspect him. Maybe he's seen worse. I shrugged it off and proceeded to lay down. Then something stopped me. I was his apprentice now. Would it end the same? I sighed and stared up at the ceiling,

"Maybe Duncan won't be like Sjin. But don't fall in love like you did with Sjin. That's over." I growled and then forced myself to sleep the rest of the night.

~~~~~~~THE NEXT DAY

"Kim! Wake up! Science awaits!" I groaned and opened my eyes, suddenly I felt a pain like...everywhere. Mostly in my legs though. "Duncan...my legs still hurt." I heard him start walking over to the medical room and open the door. "Well...we can't have that! I'll carry you around to show you around the castle. It's kinda made for flying so hold on!" With that he picked me up and walked out the door. I clinged to him, this reminded me of the horses with Sjin. How he would help me get on and help me get off because of my small height. HE would always say, "I don't want my delicate flower getting hurt"

I snapped out of my thoiughts, I gotta stop thinking about him...

"Duncan? What's that sphere thing?" I asked trying to take my mind off of Sjin. He looked up and then quickly glanced at a watch on his wrist. "That's my magic sphere. It holds a lot of bad magic in it. The flux capictiy is pretty high though, don't go near it." He said. I couldn't stop looking at it. It was just so pretty. But Duncan said it was dangerous. So it's dangerous.

"Hey Kim? Wanna have your first lesson? We can make you a jetpack so you fly around." He said. I looked at him grinning.

"YES!!!!"

"Kim! Kim!" He called out to me, I laughed and flew up, "this is amazing!!!" I laughed, I was as happy as I could be now. Duncan was great! I never wanted to leave this place! I landed on a sphere. Duncan looked scared and started flying over. But not before I tripped and fell into the sphere. I say Duncan's hand reaching out to me. I reached out. But I fell just out of reach. I saw Duncan's eyes fill with tears.

"Duncan! Help!!!" He held down a rope, I grabbed it and he pulled me up and quickly flew away. "Kim...stay away." My heart broke. "...w-why?" I exclaimed flying closer to him, he flew away, I growped and walked int my tower. Which Duncan had nicely done for me over night. I then heard the sound of blocks blocking off my doorway and windows. I raced up to my room level where I saw Duncan placing dirt over my window. I walked over, tears flooding my eyes.

"Duncan....please." He looked up at me, he was crying too. "I'm sorry Kim. But...I can't take the risk of getting anyone else hurt." With that he covered the last part of my window. I started to cry. I knew I couldn't trust him. Now I couldn't even get home.

First Sjin and now Duncan. How could he do this to me?

How could I do this to her? I had just met her, I know. But, she was the first person not to run away. I sighed and went down to my celler. I took out a mug and started to drink. This was going to be a long night. I knew it. I remember lonely niguts where I would come here and drink everything away. Only to be having nightmares about the war and blackrock.

I took another drink, the world started to beccome hazy. "I can't...ever let her know..." I slurred. I chocked on my sobs as I heard Kim screaming my name. I took another drink. Tears had started falling down my face. They stung, but I ignroed them.

One more drink. I passed out.
