bethany's pov//
it's been about three weeks since we moved to arizona. it's a lot different compared to what used to be home, but i guess we'll get used to it.
since getting here we have moved into our new house, and scoped around the area to see what it's like. mom told us that it was nice when she came to look for us a house a few months ago, but i had to see it for myself to believe it.
and, i have to admit, she was right. the house was really nice. pretty flashy, which i didn't like very much, but it was nice. our neighbors don't seem to be very nosy which i appreciate a lot.
we also went and checked out the school hayden and i would be attending, and it is huge. as soon as i saw it, my heart dropped. that's exactly something i don't need; a huge school with a lot more people who will just make my life a lot more miserable.
at least it's my last year of high school, though. that's the only positive thought i've got to hang on to right now.
"you know, you all should really start making an effort to meeting your fellow classmates during the summer, so that you won't go in completely blind the first day," mom states.
"and how are we supposed to do that? i don't even know anybody's names around here except for our neighbors, and half of them i've already forgotten," hayden admits.
i chuckle at his comment.
"hayden," mom scolds, "there's parks to go to, community pools, i mean hell, there's a pizza shop like 2 miles from the house, and you all have made no effort to even ask to go there."
"mom, i appreciate the effort, but we're not seven. no one goes to parks over the age of 12 unless they're a drug dealer or... a drug dealer," i say matter-of-factly.
mom gives me a look as she glances back in the rear view mirror.
"well, i'm just saying that it would be good to find some ways to get out there and meet some people. see what you're gonna be putting up with for the next couple years of your lives," mom says, and that ends the conversation.
we get back home and i immediately flop down on the couch in the living room. somehow i'm exhausted just from riding around.
hayden goes up to his room while mom and i stay downstairs.
we watch a couple of episodes of some crime show, then after about an hour goes by, moms gets up and goes to the kitchen.
hayden comes back down from his room and sits in the recliner. he looks like he's deep in thought.
"what's the matter with you?" i laugh as i question him.
"well, maybe mom wasn't completely wrong about meeting people. i mean, i'm pretty tired of just laying up in my room all day with nothing to do, and i'm sure you are too," he states.
"no, actually i like it a lot," i say, fully laying back on the couch now with my arms crossed behind my head.
he rolls his eyes before he continues, "okay, but you're eventually gonna get tired of it too. maybe we could go swim later or at least go down to the pool and just see if there's anyone there worth talking to."
to be completely honest it sounds like a stupid fucking plan. but i have to keep in mind that when i was 15, i would've probably thought that was a fun thing to do too. but still, though. stupid fucking plan.
