Day Before

I was in his office, as instructed. Father pulled me out of my homeschooled lesson, claiming he had some 'business' to discuss with me since I'm of age to know what he is working with.

"B-but I don't want to inherent anything. I want to go out and build my own foundation!" I was clueless still to what he was giving me.

"You'll do as I say! I'm not going to have all I've built up till now, crumble because of a stupid decision you decide to make. Understood?" He looked at me with such a glare that if looks could kill...well you know.

"My stupid decisions? I'm sorry for wanting to be my own person!"

"I raised you better than this Y.N. Who are you getting loud with?" Now it was his turn to raise his voice. "Leave the office and finish your lessons. We will discuss more tomorrow when I get home. We'll have a guest. And REMEMBER respect." He emphasized the word 'remember'.

Next day> Few hours before

I admit there were times where I felt like I was being raised as a trained pet. But I pushed it aside assuming it was only because father wanted a well behaved daughter to show off to his business friends or whatever. Claiming that I was his "prize possession".  He told me that i meant the world to him when I was younger and because I'm his daughter I felt loved and treasured. I was a princess in the clouds of my own little world. As I got older, it became sickening. I felt like a trophy being thrown around for the business world to look at. Whenever I went to his business get togethers or parties, I was told to be elegantly respectful  and smile always.

"Ms. Y.N., you shouldn't miss your lessons, your father won't approve. Please come out! He will be home in a few hours!" One of the maids constantly knocked on my bedroom door every hour. I refused to go out, mentally preparing myself for whatever my father was going to throw my way.

While I was in there, I spent my time thinking about what kind of business he was running. He kept it pretty low for the most part, but like I said,  I was catching on. There were some things that he just let slip or I overheard.

It didn't sound like some of the common businesses owned. I began thinking that maybe he owned a law firm? He would bring up names I either heard on news or radios. He would also discuss some illegal things he "found out about". Of course I never let him know what I heard.

As time passed,  the maid came back.
"Ms. Y.N., please come out. You'll get in trouble if you don't! Please come out, we won't say anything if you do..." I can hear the desperation in her voice.

I was close with the caretakers, maids, and others.  They were always the ones around me when I was younger.

I sighed and decided to go out before it was too late. I opened the door to see a restless maid.

"Yoana, I'm sorry... I'm just not feeling well." I made an excuse to get out of her scolding.

"Don't worry about, we'll get you some warm soup and act as if you want to your classes today.  I'm afraid master isn't happy today. I wouldn't want you to have to deal with any more trouble than you have." She was always so kind and considerate.

I decided to test my luck. "Do you know what kind of business he is talking about? What does he want me to carry on?" I asked while starring at my nervous hands.

"I'm not sure, dear. None of us know. We aren't to communicate with him other than preparations. I'm sorry I'm of no help." She said while gripping my forearm lightly for comfort.
