Chapter 3

*Y/n's P.O.V.*

My eyes widen as I open my eyes. Standing there was the one person I never wanted to see, or thought I'd see.

Gene.

I stare at him, our eyes meeting.

"What? You didn't expect us to be here?" I heard Zenix's voice as he came out. I'm just sparing you time Zane, just sparing you time...

"Well I didn't expect to not to get caught." I say as I look that the two. They were tall, muscular, and scarier than I thought. Zenix pulled out a knife from his back pocket.

"Where are the books?" He asks,walking towards me. 

"I don't have them." I tell him. Zenix and Gene look at each other. I thought struck my head then. Gene is Dante's brother, which means the books are at his house! 

"I said, where are the books? I didn't ask you if you had them." Zenix's voice grew colder. 

"I don't know." I say, and Zenix growls.

"What do you mean you don't know? We saw you-" Zenix was off.

"Zenix, enough." Gene growls. That confused me. Was he sticking up for me? No, that wasn't right.

"Gene! I couldn't get the books. Kim ran o-" I recognized the voice of Sasha as she walked into the alley way. She stopped talking when her eyes met mine. I gulp, backing up more into the wall. Being cornered by the Shadow Knights was the last thing I wanted. 

"What is she doing here?" Sasha asked, looking at the two.

"We found her running off with the books." Zenix exclaimed, looking at me. Sasha's eyes met mine again. I wanted to disappear right then. I look away, but my eyes landed on Gene. He didn't look away from me. Something inside me made me feel a little safer. I shook that thought away.

"I knew you were involved with it. You've been talking to Kim a lot today." Sasha pulled out a small knife as she spoke. These people are insane. All of a sudden, she lunged at me. I duck and ran towards the entrance of the alley way. Glancing back, I saw that Gene had blocked their way from grabbing me. Something was off, but I silently thanked Gene before running down the sidewalk.

*Dante's P.O.V.* 

I look at Travis. We had decided that when Y/n showed up, we'd find a different hiding place. Gene was my older brother, and so I knew what it was like to be near knives and blood. Except he never let anyone hurt me. Gene protected me, which shocked some people. That doesn't mean that my are safe. 

"It's 4:15pm, and Y/n still isn't here." Zane's voice was quiet, but I knew he was panicking. Honestly, I don't blame him. I had a small crush on her. It broke my heart though because the other guys were always talking about her. Pushing back the thought, Laurence started talking.

"I'll go find her." He said, standing up. All of a sudden, the door swung open and shut as fast as it opened. The small figure stood there, which was Y/n. Her eyes were wide, and she was panting. 

"Y/N!" Vylad nearly jumped out of his skin as he ran over to her. His eyes widen.

"Your arm..." He mutters under his breath. Lifting it up, blood trickled down.

"What happened!?" Zane asked, scared.

"The Shadow Knights found me." That was all she said. Garroth came out of the kitchen with a wrapping bandage. Y/n let him bandage her arm.
