[blurb: Eddy is having an off-day. Brett is the only one who can help.]

"Please try again later. The number you have dialed--" Brett groans and hangs up for the fifth time that morning.
They had plans, Eddy said so last night. So Brett couldn't understand why his boyfriend wasn't picking up.
I should just go to him. Maybe he's asleep. Brett thought, tucking his phone into his pocket. He runs a hand through his hair before standing up to leave. "These are the things that don't have to happen if we live together." he commented as he stepped out of his apartment.
The walk was relatively short because he'd gotten used to the distance. But the walk was frustrating for Brett this morning. He couldn't shake off his annoyance towards Eddy's refusal to pick up his phone. This isn't like him. Is he blowing me off?
Suddenly, Brett started panicking. He fishes out his phone and opens the conversation they had last night, trying to see if he had said something wrong. When he couldn't see anything wrong in the conversation, he tried desperately to remember their date yesterday. All he could remember were warm, happy moments. He tried to think of small, subtle things that could give him some sort of clue. No such luck.
Sooner than he had expected, he was now only a few steps away from Eddy's apartment building. He takes a deep breath and decides to sit on the pavement. Damn it, what did I do? What did I say? What's wrong? Is Eddy tired of me? Nonsense! We've been dating for a year, and we've been best friends forever. There's no way.
The bright summer sky almost seemed to be mocking Brett as a cool breeze blew through him. Abruptly, he stands up again. He couldn't stand not knowing what was going on with his partner. They've known each other for such a long time, moments like this weren't supposed to exist anymore. But maybe being romantically involved changes things. Maybe Eddy is still getting used to it. And maybe Brett wasn't fully aware of his partner's complexities.
Brett hated the idea that maybe there were things that Eddy refused to tell him. And he wanted more than anything to eliminate any form of distance that caused them to be apart. He had offered that they move in together. His parents were going to move back to Taiwan in a few weeks, and generously offered their home to Brett. It was even his mum who said that he and Eddy should start living together.
Completely unaware that he was already in front of Eddy's apartment, Brett surprised himself by knocking loudly on the door. He waited a while before knocking again, with less force.
Soon enough, he could hear movement from inside. Even so, it took at least a minute before the locks on the door were undone. Brett suddenly felt worried, but couldn't explain where the feeling was coming from.
The door opened ever so slightly. Brett could hardly see Eddy's silhouette, "What are you doing here?" his voice was soft and raspy. Almost as if he'd just woken up.
"Shit. Did I wake you?" Brett asked, taking a step forward.
"Kinda. What are you doing here?" Eddy asked again, still not making any move to let Brett in.
Brett felt his heart sink, his mind raced in all the wrong ways, "We had plans. We were going to check out this new violin shop, remember?"
There was a brief moment of silence, "I can't today. I don't.. I don't feel well."
Brett could tell that it wasn't the whole truth, "Then let me take care of you. Let me in."
Eddy reluctantly opened the door a tad bit wider, "You don't have to do that. Look, I'm sorry if I made you worry. I should've texted or called."
