Reid x Derek (Criminal Minds)

Chapter 7

~Derek's POV~
     I woke up to my alarm blazing. I usually wake up before it goes off, but I guess I slept better last night. I feel a weight on my chest and see Reid looking up at me, his head on my chest. I smile down at him and he smiled more genuinely than he had since the incident. Today was the day he got to go back to work so we both got up and I walked to the shower. I turned the water on and felt the warm water hit my skin. I was in there for a minute or two before I heard the door open. "Mind if I join you?" I heard his voice as he pulled back the shower curtain. "Sure, pretty boy." I responded, smirking as he awkwardly stepped into the shower. We weren't doing anything sexual, we were just talking. We were talking about life and about work and what we did while I was gone. We got out and dried off and got dressed for work.
    We were walking down the stairs, chatting. We reached the car and drove to work. We went up the elevator and walked into the office, where the team and I had planned a surprise party for Reid.
~Reid POV~
We walk in and I was expecting everyone to greet me and sy "welcome back" and the cheesy greeting stuff, but no one paid me any attention. I walked up to JJ to tell her hello. "Hey JJ." I said smiling. "Oh hey Reid, welcome back. We have a case, so get up there." She said smiling, walking away. Derek and I walked up the stairs and when I walked in, there was a cake, a bright banner that said 'Welcome Back', and everyone was there. I smiled and looked at Derek to see if he knew about this. He was smiling at me warmly and suddenly I was so happy that I was back and that I failed those weeks ago. I thanked everyone and hugged everyone. "Sorry for ghosting you earlier, I had to make it as much of a surprise as possible." JJ said as she hugged me. "Its ok, you are an excellent actor though." I said smiling as I hugged her.
The rest of the day went by pretty quickly, a few other agents welcoming me back. When the day ended we drove home and walked up to our door. I opened the door and we walked to our room and I just collapsed on the bed. I was exhausted from not being used to that anymore and before I knew it, I was in a deep sleep.
