"who are they?" daniel asks, pointing in the direction of the enigmatic people as they seat themselves in the far corner of the cafeteria.

"those are the bessons. they're like, the most gorgeous people in the world," christina gushes, batting her eyes toward them.

"they are really pale though," daniel mentions, observing how the pale skin contrasted exceptionally against the faux blonde highlights.

"i mean, look at all of us. it's hard to get a tan here in portland with it raining all the time," christina chuckles, motioning to the window where the rain was calmly tapping against it.

daniel noticed how pale the rest of the group was in comparison to him. he had lived in houston his whole life, tanning was just part of his routine.

"maybe we should all pay a visit to houston," christina jokes, giggling in the process.

daniel chuckles back in response, before he senses that someone is staring at him. he moves his head marginally to the side, looking into the corner where the besson's are seated.

daniel examines the table, landing his eyes on the singular boy seated at the table, who is staring directly right back at him. daniel feels his face heat up in response, not being fond of the idea of being stared at.

daniel looks away, as he feels the awakward encounter grow tense. he glances occasionally to see if he has looked away, only to be met with his intense stare.

daniel nudges christina's side. "why does he keep staring at me?" daniel asks.

"who?" christina questions.

"him," daniel mutters, slightly pointing in the direction of the staring boy.

"oh my gosh, maybe he likes you!" christina exclaims, shaking daniel excitedly.

"christina, shush! plus, he would never like me. i don't even know who he is," daniel clarifies, shaking his head.

"are you gay?" christina asks suddenly.

taken aback, daniel stutters, "um, well, um, yeah," whispering the last part.

"my ship is going to sail people," christina squeals loudly, a few people turning their heads.

"chris, stop!" daniel says frustratedly, giggling in the process.

"this is perfect! you would look so cute together," christina raves, smiling cheerfully at daniel

daniel returns a smile in response, glancing back over at the besson table. the boy was surprisingly not staring back at him; that is, until daniel looked at him. his intense stare was practically burning holes through daniel, as daniel watched his hands ball tightly into fists.

daniel quickly looked away, blushing madly. he didn't quite know what to think about him.

"what's his name?" daniel asks.
