Elizabeth's POV:
When I exit out of the conversation between Lancelot and I, Father comes in my room. "Hey sweetie, sorry for snapping at you earlier. I just don't want any traitors to have been in there and you seemed to know the leading Assassin, named 'Lancelot.'" He says.
"It's fine, Dad. But you should know by now that there's no reason as to why I would betray you like that. I mean, I have a boyfriend back home and a large, beautiful house I live in with you and everyone else, and I even have Panda!!" I reply. Little does he know that I'm lying straight through my teeth with betraying him. You deserve everything I'm going to put you through and more, Father.
My words hit me. I have a boyfriend. Why am I doing this? What is the point of all this when I'm not going to see this man again? He's just probably being nice to me and isn't interested. Even if he was, I have a boyfriend who treats me well. Lancelot is probably just going to get tired of me anyways, like all my exes did, and I'll be alone all over again. Should I really trust him?
My phone pings and I look at the text, wishing to see Lancelot's contact, but am oddly disappointed.
Bae❤️💋: Hey sweetie! How was the meeting? Your dad in a better mood now?❤️
I smile at the pet name, Father seeing my reaction. "Was that your boyfriend?" He asks, and I roll my eyes, still smiling. "Dad, you know it was him because of my facial reaction. Anyways, what is the plan for the rest of the trip?" I decide to not respond to my boyfriend, since he can't tell that I read the message.
"Well, I decided that instead of you coming to the rest of my meetings, I will allow you to explore the area and see its architecture and culture, since I know those things interest you. Plus, it will keep you out of harm's way if the meeting gets raided again by those no-good Assassins."
My smile widens as Father tells me this news, my mind jumping for joy because I'm being offered some free time. "Thank you Dad!!! Am I going to be alone?" I grin, pleading with him with the daughter card because I know that he sometimes relents for me.
"No. I'm having two of our men be with you so that you're not kidnapped."
I sigh but tell Father that I understand, then ask him to leave the room I'm staying in. Right as he leaves, I go on my phone and ask Lancelot to call me.
Instantly, his contact pops up as face chat on my phone, and I quickly grab my mask, going to make an imitation of him when I answer. As I hit the ANSWER button, I giggle as we're both wearing masks.
"We're matching, L." I say, not being able to hide the smile in my eyes. He lets out a chuckle, shaking his head and smiling wide under the mask. "Yeah, we are." He says. Suddenly serious, he looks around to look if anyone could be listening where he is. "So, why did you want to call me? Not complaining, but we both have to be careful so your father doesn't find out about this." I smile, moving to lock the hotel door.
"Father thinks I'm madly in love with my boyfriend, so he wouldn't question it a lot. Also, he is letting me hang out in the town with some gullible goons of his. I was thinking maybe you pick me up? We sneak off into the crowd, go on a little rendezvous to make Father flip while we're having fun?"
I smile, seeing his mask tilt and his eyes light up as he smirks and says, "sounds good. It's a date."
When he hangs up, my face turns red as I giggle and start shaking in excitement. At the thought burning in my brain:
What if it's an actual date?! I need to wear a cute outfit!!
