At school, I am as smart as everyone else. Rich says I may be even smarter. I get to go to the same classes as them, I get to go to the same cafeteria. But I don't like the cafeteria so I usually eat outside. I get to do everything that they do. I just need to make sure I have my headphones with me. That is the deal. Rich makes sure I have my headphones. But he doesn't need to since Christine is way more enforcing of that rule. It's funny.

When I entered the school grounds, I go straight to my locker. I gotta go there first. Get my books and get my seat in Math. My seat is right in the middle. Not to far ahead. And not to far back. The perfect seat for the freak of the school.

As I am opening my locker, I notice a group of people walking over. I already know who they are. But there is someone else that is new hiding in there ranks. I avert my eyes when the leader of the group looks my way. I hear him call out my name, but I already have my headphones on. I quickly grab my books. I then slam my locker shut and whip my head around. Facing me is the group. I watch as there mouths move. I can tell what they are saying. I am a master at lip reading. Most of the words are 'Can you hear me freak?' or 'Bean pole'... I don't find the last one as offensive as the first. I then turned my attention away from there lips and to the rest of there face.

There was one boy who was looking right at me. The new boy. He had chocolate skin. Big brown eyes. Headphones slung around his neck. And a giant red hoodie trapped on his body. I felt my face contort into a small smile when I saw a rainbow patch on his sleeve. I think it looked pretty.

I noticed that some of the girls in the group pointed at my face and laughed. Maybe because my smile always looked strange. But the boy turned a little red. I wonder why.

I then realized that class was gonna start soon. So I walked past the group, right up to the boy. His eyes widened. I think he was surprised. Christine told me that is what happens when someone is surprised. I opened my mouth and said

"I like your rainbow".

And then I walked away to my class. Leaving the group behind.
