Chap 17~ Fears

Neito P.O.V

I managed to get out with a few scratched and bruises. I couldn't say the same for Shinso. Luckily a police officer was driving around when my parents were doing that to him. After he passed out they came over to me. They started fighting me but I held out. I was no sitting in a waiting room with Mr.Aizawa and Present Mic. It was awkward sitting with two pro heroes/teachers at my school but I wasn't worried about them. I was worried a bout my best friend who was, as far as we know, still knocked out.

"So your parents did this?" I hear a monotone voice ask. "Y-yeah..." I see a pair of hands moving around next to Aizawa. "He asked why would your parents do this." Aizawa translates Present Mic's signing. "Shinso stood up for me against them..." I couldn't explain how he also used his quirk on both of them, and how they think were dating. "Also why is Present Mic using sign language?" I ask. "The doctors banned him from talking in the hospital because of how loud he is." Aizawa answers for him. Present mic signs something else. "He also said to just call him Yamada. Out of school only of course." I nod at his request.

Soon a doctor walks into the waiting room. "Hitoshi Shinso's parents?" Aizawa and Yamada stand up. Yamada gestures for me to come with them. I scurry over to them. "He is awake. He has a concussion and a damaged knee. Besides that he's fine." The doctor says. Yamada signs once again. The nurse looks confused. "He asked if we can see him." Aizawa's monotone voice that truly made me question how Shinso isn't biologically related said. "Well you two can. I don't know about this boy though." She gestures to me. "He did request someone. But if your not family or a boy named..." She looks at her clipboard. I knew it would be me since I dont know who else he would want to see. "Neito Monoma?" She asks. "Yeah thats me." I tell her. She looks at Aizawa for conformation. He nods. "Okay! Follow me!" She says, a bit to cheery.

After walking through multiple hallways she stops in front of a closed door. "Here you are." She says. We all nod as Yamada opens the door. "Hitoshi!" His loud voice rings through the room. The nurse coughs. "Sorry.." he... whispers? I immediately saw Aizawa's face go soft. "Hitoshi oh my god." he runs up to him. After hugging both his dads he sees me in the doorway. "Monoma... I didnt know if you would come." He says. "Why wouldn't I?" I reply, walking closer to him. He hold his arms out. I instantly smile and move to hug him. I hear Aizawa snicker as Shinso yells "Pops!" I jump at the sudden noise. "Sorry. He signed something." He apologizes. I look at Yamada. He signs something else and mouths a bit. "This isn't going to be easy for me is it?" Everyone shakes their head. I sigh. "I can teach you some sign language. All pops said was how we would look good... together." I start to blush a bit but I try to push it down.

*Time skippo*

"So your just going to have to stay here tonight. Besides that visiting hours are over in 30 minutes. You all can come back at 11:30 tomorrow. Well you should be In school." The nurse points to me. I nod a bit. After she leaves it starts to rain a bit. "Isn't that big storm supposed to be tonight?" Yamada says. They allowed him to talk if he stays as quiet as he can be, for my sake. Aizawa nods. Shit. "Monoma are you okay? You looked like your worst fear just flashed in your eyes." What Shinso says makes Yamada and Aizawa turns to look at me. "I uh... Im terrified of storms... and now I wont have anyone to help me." I stutter out. "Oh.. what about Kendo? Tetsutetsu? Tsuburaba? Anyone?" He tries to name some of my friends. "Kendo is on a vacation with her parents, Tetsutetsu goes to sleep early and Tsuburaba or anyone else isn't good with helping me." I tell him. "Maybe I can try to persuade the nurse to let me out tonight or let you stay here? She seems nice so maybe she will if she understands right?" He looks at Aizawa and Yamada. They both have kind of sad emotions on their face. Mainly Yamada. "I dont know kid. You might be out of luck." Aizawa says. I sigh and start to panic a bit. We all hear a knock. "Hey guys I suggest you leave now before you get caught in the storm." The nurse says. Yamada stands up. "Could Monoma stay here tonight? He has a horrible fear of storms and has nobody to help him." Yamada asks. "Oh... I dont think the doctors would allow it.." She says. "Theres nothing you could do?" Yamada's voice starts to raise a bit. My breathing starts getting heavier. I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn around to see Shinso. He gives me a reassuring look like the one I gave him that one day. "Its okay.." He says, softly. I shake my head. "Y-you dont u-understand how b-bad it is..." I start to stutter a lot, a side effect from all the anxiety that slowly filled me. At this point Im not paying attention to Yamada and now Aizawa as they try to persuade the nurse into letting me stay. I get a flashback of when I was younger and my parents locked me in my room by myself, during a storm, until I stopped crying.

Just then a crack of thunder erupts along with a bright flash outside the windows. I jump and scream. I feel my body shaking as I slowly sit down in a ball. "Look at him! Do you really want him to be like that all night!" I hear Yamada say in his normal voice which was more like a yell. "Ill try okay! Theres no promises though." She gets fed up with their attempts to persuade her.

Hitoshi P.O.V

I slowly lower myself out of the bed. "Hito-" I cut my dad off. The second I put pressure on my one leg, my knee started to hurt but, I push past it. Monoma needs me right now. I finally get to his level. "Hey, Monoma. Look at me." He slowly lifts his head up. I see tears rolling down his cheek. I wipe his tears away. "Its going to be okay. This is all temporary. After this is all over you will be stronger. You will be closer to beating this fear." I tell him. I see his lips curve upwards a bit. I pull him into a hug. He takes his hands away from his ears to hug me back. Another crack of thunder erupts. He jumps, holding onto me tighter.

"Its okay Monoma, Im here."
