A 6 hour flight later we made it to Atlanta. As soon as we got our luggage Jason immediately called someone from his phone. "Yo I just got to the airport, yeah, alright bro". I took a seat and fidgeted with my hands. Jason looked back down at his phone and then grabbed the suitcases. "My friend Travis is here, let's go". I closely followed behind Jason to the pick-up section of the airport.
"Yo my boy" Jason exclaimed to Travis . He looked about 25-26, he was brown skin with dark waves and a bright smile. "What's up bro" Travis responded as they dapped each other up. I stood there feeling awkward until Jason introduced me "and this is my girl (Y/N)". "Hey (Y/N)" he smiled and pulled me into a light hug. "Hey" I shyly said and returned the hug. "Well let's go, we got the meeting in a few" Travis said as he checked the time on his phone. "Right" Jason agreed as they put the suitcases in the trunk of his red SUV and Travis got in the car. I sat in the back and kept peeking over at Travis . Who exactly was he and how did he know Jason? Was he also a criminal?
"We're here" Travis said as he pulled into the parking lot of a large mansion. "The other place was better, y'all downgraded" Jason chuckled getting out the car. "Whatever man" Travis laughed as he opened the trunk.
After settling in, I took a seat on the lush California king bed. I wondered why Jason needed to travel to Atlanta? And Why would it be so important? I sighed and turned on the tv, scrolling through countless movie genres before finally deciding on "The circle". Once the movie was half way done, Jason walked in, an angry expression on his face. He slammed the door and took a seat on the bed next to me, lightly grabbing my thigh to move me closer to him. "Travis is being such a bitch, I came here to do my business, not talk about loans" Jason exclaimed. I wondered, why would Travis need money? He seemed to be doing good for himself, judging from his modern mansion I was in and his collection of cars outside. I looked at Jason, as sympathetic as I could, "what business"? I questioned. Jason stood from the bed, and out his head in his hands, " baby, I'm a criminal, it's that kind of business" he said. " I had to come here because our guys who are supposed to be selling in Mexico have been slacking, we need to take care of them and get the money we would've made with that deal". I wasn't shocked that he was selling drugs, not to be judgy, but he did seem like the type. He also seemed to be the type to be the boss, or be in charge, I wouldn't suspect him to actually sell and make the deal on a corner.
He looked in my eyes, looking for a sign of anything I think, sympathy? Hope? Danger? But instead I just sat there emotionless, I wanted nothing more than to just be home, with my friends and family. He could've told me his deepest secret and I probably would've turned the other cheek, I just wanted to go home, and he didn't understand. He took my head into his hands and gently caressed my cheek, "baby, I know you're probably missing your friends, but you can make friends with mine" he offered. I shook my head, I didn't want to be involved with him or anyone that had anything to do with him. "You have to meet them anyways, you mine as well do it now while I'm at my meeting, you can hang out with Travis's girlfriend Kourt ", "Alright" I mumbled.
After making it downstairs, Jason lead me to the kitchen and gave me a kiss on the check before heading into some hallway. I walked into the kitchen to be met with 2 girls, all looking to be around 19-21 in age. I smiled as they all turned to greet me, friendly smiles on their faces. "Hey I'm Kourt, and this is my friend Hallie". "Hey I'm (Y/N)" I greeted, as I sat at the table. "So I hear you and Jason are close?" Kourt spilled, taking a sip of her drink. "Close? He kidnapped me" I said, while fidgeting with my nails. "Awe hun, I'm sorry I said it that way, I know he did, Travis technically took me too" she sighed, pulling me into a light hug for comfort. "Have you tried getting help?" I asked pleasingly, hoping she'd tell me the police are coming or something. She took a long sigh," the thing is, if we look for help, it's likely by the time help comes, we'll be gone" a shiver went down my spine. "I've been with Travis for almost 3 years now, I learned to just deal with it, I really miss my old life but there's nothing I can really do" she said, taking a long sip of her drink. I sighed and looked at the glass table, wishing I knew how to get myself out of this situation. "Where are my manners, let me get you a drink" Kourt exclaimed, while pouring me a drink. She handed me the drink, "this patron is bomb girl, and the passion fruit juice mixes well". I took a sip and the alcohol burned the back of my throat, she must've not put a lot of juice in that I thought.
While conversing with Kourt and Hallie, it somehow became let's all get drunk, we all started taking shots and I'd normally never drink, but I figured I should probably drink tonight, and try to drink my troubles away.
