Summer Training (1/3)

Plot: Hyoga and reader are spending time together in the town next to the Sanctuary after a rough day of training. How difficult can it be to convince the Cygnus Saint to take a break?

The sun is shining hard over the Sanctuary, the sacred place where Athena and her saints live and train to keep the Earth free from the evil forces that threaten the planet and the humanity that live within it.

A person named Y/N is sitting under the shade of a tree to shield themselves from the scorching heat that is blessing the 12 houses of the Zodiac. They're watching the Cygnus Saint from afar, waiting for him to end with daily work out routine.

I've been watching Hyoga train for the last...I don't know for how much time I've stayed sitting on the hard steps of the training ground.
Even though we've known each other for quite some time and that I have grown accustomed to witness the challenging obstacles that he has to face almost everyday in order to become a better saint I can't help but to feel worried whenever he fights.

I'm conscious of the fact that he's a powerful bronze saint, but it hurts me so much to see him so tired, sweaty and with blood all over his body. I don't want Hyoga to suffer this kind of torture everyday.

- Flashback -

Close to the Aquarius Temple, the pair of friends is talking while they're sitting in the never-ending steps of the 12 Zodiac Temples.

-Hyoga, I know you're busy with your saint stuff, but how about we go to the town?-

- What for?- The Cygnus Knight questioned with a hint of indifference.

- Just to relax.- said the younger one to the man with icy blue eyes.

- I can't. Got some things to do.- As he finished that sentence, he stood up from where he was sitting and started walking back to the Temple of his master.

- Wait!- Y/N exclaimed as they grabbed Hyoga's hand to stop him from getting away from there.

- Wait... There's something I wanted to tell you for a while.- With a look of worry and shame, Y/N avoided the blue eyes of his friend.

Now that Hyoga was surprised to see this kind of behavior in Y/N, he decided to listen to what they were about to say.

- What did you want to tell me?

- You've been training non-stop for almost a month now, maybe you need a break...-

Without letting go of the Saint's bigger and colder hand, Y/N continued with their explanation.

- That and... I'm worried about you.- This thought had been wandering around in Y/N's mind for quite a while but they never had gathered the courage to tell him about it. The truth is that they saw Hyoga as something more than a friend.

- You worry...about me? I'm just training, you don't have to feel that way.- he stated quite bluntly.

- Hyoga, you never understand anything! It's just that it pains me whenever you return to the Aquarius Temple all covered up with bruises and cuts. And besides that, you never take some time to rest, your body needs that too.

The taller man was now facing completely to the person standing in front of him. Hyoga had to admit that he was indeed touched by their words, never had someone worried so much for his health and well-being.

- It's my duty as a Saint of Athena. And I'm glad that I have someone like you by my side, Y/N. Hey, hey! Don't cry!

Hyoga placed both of his cold hands in your shoulders as an attempt to calm you as you began to shed some tiny tears as your "friend" told you that, the feelings inside you being too much to handle anymore.

- It's nothing, an insect just flew close to my eyes.-

Both of the young "friends" stared at each other eyes for what it felt like an eternity, when in reality it was just a few seconds. They came out of their short trance and quickly returned to their original sitting positions, mutually avoiding the looks of one another.

-So...Y/N started slowly.- tomorrow when you're done?

- Yeah, sound good. But what are we doing in the city?

- The summer in Greece is really exhausting...How about we go grab some ice cream?- Y/N suggested this because they knew that the blond guy next to them would never refuse an icy treat.

- Great, don't bring any money. I'm paying for it.-

Just as you were preparing to decline his offer, he continued:- Hey it's my treat, you made me realize I was pushing myself too hard.

- Okay, I respect your decision, but I don't like it.

- That'll work for me... It's late, your parents must be worried for you. Let me walk you home.

- You don't have to do that Hyoga! You need your beauty sleep~.-

Mischievously, Hyoga answered:- I'm already way too beautiful, I don't need anymore "beauty sleep", plus, I'm not just a Knight of Athena, I'm also a gentleman.-

Y/N couldn't help but to laugh at his comment, trying to hide their blushing face from the Saint next to them.

Truth is that the Russian swan would never allow Y/N to walk alone in the dark night that fell in the Sanctuary, he knew about the dangers that could be lurking in the darkness. He was trained to be "a respectful and caring Saint that defended the humanity", at least tht was the best excuse he prepared in his mind.

- Remember where my house is?-

- Yeah, it's not far from the Sanctuary's entrance.-Y/N nodded to confirm the statement Hyoga made.

After getting through a ton of stairs that connected the 12 Zodiac Houses, the "couple of good old friends" finally reached the exit of the Sanctuary and began a short walk of a mere 10 minutes to reach Y/N's house.

No words were exchanged in that time, Y/N and Hyoga were quite comfortable walking in silence in the middle of the night. Finally arriving at their destination, they started to say their good-byes.

- Well, Y/N, see ya tomorrow.-

- Good night Hyoga, take care on your way back.-

Cygnus waited for them to open the door of their home and get inside before finally returning to the Aquarius Temple.

However, neither of them knew what kind I adventures were waiting for them on their little stroll around the town.
