Her slightly curled, silky, caramel hair fell down to the middle of her back. It shimmered in the light. Her skin held so much life and color but Anakin would soon learn how dead a lively looking person could be. She had wings; beautiful wings. They arched up, stopping just below the top of her head. They fell down to an inch above the ground. They folded tightly behind her; stopping a hair beyond her arms. Her harsh dark robes caused her face to look whiter than its true rosy glory. Her eyes shimmered with pain, loss, and sorrow and yet the color they were cursed to hold was so joyful and loving. And there was a vague hint of blue eyeliner under the outer corners of her eyes.
“Whoa,” was all Anakin could think.
She brought back memories of his childhood. Sitting with the pilots, listening to them tell stories. One about the angles on a moon of Iego. They said that they were the most beautiful things in the entire galaxy. He had always wanted to meet one and now here was an Angel staring him in the face.
“Well umm,”Anakin stuttered.
“Master Skywalker,” Silent bowed again.
“Umm,” Anakin started, “So what’s you name kid?”
“Silent sir,” she replied.
He chuckled. “No really what’s your-”
“Anakin that is her name,”Obi-Wan interrupted “My apologies young one.”
"With all due respect Master Obi-Wan, I'm not a youngling. My last master was killed in a battle on the third moon of Batcarious. I have been training with Master Andronos since I was 7."
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” Obi-Wan said.
“It’s alright,”she shrugged. “We’re in the middle of a war these things happen and we need to be prepared for loss.”
“Well, I’m sure you two will be a great team,”Anakin said briskly.“But if you’ll please excuse me.”
“Actually I’ve been assigned to you Master Skywalker,” Silent said.
“What?! No,no,no there must be a mistake, He’s the one that wanted the padawan!” Anakin argued pointing at Kenobi.
“No, Master Yoda said that I was assigned to Anakin Skywalker not Obi-Wan Kenobi,” Silent explained standing her ground.
“But--” he sighed. “Ok come on wings.”
Silent’s wing twitched and she followed her new master. Obi-Wan noticed that she practically glided along the surface. Her robe made it hard to tell whether she used her legs or not; or if she even had legs.
Anakin led them to a hologram of the city; Rex and Cody had joined them on the way there.
“So how we going to do this, sir?” Rex asked.
“Well since the heavy cannons have no effect on their deflector shield, you’ll have to sneak in,” Obi-Wan said to Anakin and Silent.
“You know sneaking around really isn’t my style,” Silent pointed out flapping her wings lightly.
“That’s going to complicate things sir,” Rex said.
“How fast are you?”Anakin asked a plan already devising in his mind.
“Fast enough for you,” she replied, clearly having the same idea he was. “Although cover here and here,” she pointed to two buildings already inside the deflector shield, “would be very helpful.”
“Alright,” Obi-Wan said “Rex and his men will cover you two here,” he pointer to the same spot “ while Cody and I hold off the droids on the ground.”
“Agreed,” Silent nodded. “Come on master.” She waved for him to follow her as she started to walk away. She stopped when she noticed he wasn’t behind her. “Master?” She asked looking at him over her shoulder.
He caught up to her and they started to walk away. “If we survive this, wings, you and I are going to have a talk.”
<0>
“You ready?” Silent asked flapping her wings.
“Ya,” he said fixing the strapps of a backpack filled with deditinators.
Silent launched herself up in the air then nose dived down picked up Anakin by the arms.
“Rex,” Anakin asked his comlink “you boys in position?”
“Yes sir,” Rex replied.
As they flew over the battle a squad of droids began firing at them.
“Uagh!” Silent said “I thought Rex was supposed to cover us!”
“He is,” Anakin reassured her.
Silent glided for a moment then “Ahgh!”
“Silent?” Anakin asked straining his neck to see her.
“I, hope you *ahh* know how to *ah* land on your feet ‘cause I won't be *ahh* able to save you,” Silent groaned.
They were losing altitude quickly. They entered the deflector shield and were passed the droids.
“Silent?” Anakin asked again “Silent!”
“I have to let you go or we’ll both die.”
“No. Silent. Don’t you-” she let go.
Anakin leveled himself out and landed safely on his feet. Silent however, was plummeting toward the ground at an amazing speed. Anakin saw what had happened- one wing was dangling to her side and the other flapping frantically; struggling to support her body. Anakin raised his hands and slowed her down but not in time- Silent crashed into a large pile of rubble. Anakin rushed to the pile and began digging frantically. He found her about a foot under the rubble and gently lifted her out. He rested her head on his lap.
“Silent?” he whispered gently brushing her hair out of her face.
She moaned softly then gently coughed and her eyes fluttered open. “Master?”She asked.
“I’m here,” He said moving his legs so she’d be more comfortable “I’m here.”
In moving he moved her robes revealing her Jedi garments. They were identical to Obi-Wan’s except she only had armor on her forearms, her boots were made of leather and her hands were exposed; not a very common thing to see.
“You know there’s a war going on about thirty yards away and you're making sure I’m comfortable?”
“Would you rather be uncomfortable?”
“I’d rather blow up the generator and see a” she breathed in sharply “ Doctor.”
“Then let’s go,” Anakin said lifting her up.
“Can you walk?”
“Why do you think I have legs?”She asked kicking them through the air.
“Just making sure I didn’t have to carry you,” he said setting her down.
