a collection of short rants/complaints

I'm trying to revive this book lmao, here we go:

1) WATTPAD CLICHÉS
anybody else think it's incredibly ironic that there are like 10 million 'wattpad clichés' books on this site- and most of them don't even point out anything productive, they're just a list of tropes that have existed in fiction for centuries but people just love to make fun of wattpad writers even when they are one 🤷🏾‍♀️

2) READING LIST
sheesh sometimes people need to think about what they title their reading lists. It sucks seeing your story added to 'last resorts' or 'if I have time'. I've even had some added to like dedicated reading lists for bad books. I mean OUCH.

3) CARBON COPIES
can we please stop making OC love interests identical replacements to our favourite canon ladies/boys? I feel this happens particularly in marvel fics compared to any of my other fandoms- Steve does not need a replacement for Peggy, Tony does not want Pepper's twin, Wanda doesn't need another superbot just PLEASE

5) SOMETIMES THE POETIC AINT POETIC
certain images in internet poetry and writing in general just DO👏🏾 NOT👏🏾WORK👏🏾FOR👏🏾ME👏🏾 Example: the whole "holy romance"- concepts that are bordering the metaphysical but don't quite reach it. I love metaphysical poetry, don't get me wrong, but it's ambitious to approach and most fall short. Also like celestial imagery of like "stars" and "galaxies" is overdone I feel. That said, I'm guilty of a few uses of them in my own work.

6) MY SHIPS NEVER LUCK OUT
It's so sad. My main thought is romanogers and winterwidow. I spent all of phase 4 waiting some content, and I never got it, and I probably never will. It makes me so sad I just want my babies to be happy together 😔

7) old-ish rom-coms are actually a really good sociological source
So I think movies in general teach us a lot about history, but nobody seems to recognise this about rom-coms too! like c'mon- 'He's Just Not That Into You'??? We can learn a LOT about gender roles, about the birth of the Internet, how dating and relationships have changed??? It's wild!!! And everyone writes off these movies as trashy!

8) how can you just not care?
I have very few pet peeves, but one of them is this: people who are "uninterested" or "indifferent" about politics. Usually these people are so privileged that they don't have to worry about it, while the rest of us (POC, religious minorities, working class people, LGBTQ+, and other underprivileged groups) are literally scared for our lives at some points. And y'all are just like 'hmmm voting?? yeah, I'll pass.'
