That was all anyone could hear besides the sobs that escaped each of them. They had lost the war, they had lost those closest to them and they felt utterly useless.
Bell felt her entire being going numb, her eyes staring at the dust that was on her hands. Dust of her former friends that she had grown close to through the years. The tears continued to fall before the realization that she would need to be the one who broke the horrible news to someone.
She felt sick. She felt utterly sick to her stomach.
Quickly she rushed towards the closest restroom before immediately began to hurl everything that was in her stomach. The sound made everyone turn to the brunette, wondering what they could do to help her when they were mourning their own loss. Doc was the first to approach her friend, her chest tightening with each step unsure what she could say to help her. What could anyone say truly?
Slowly she opened the door with her tentacle, bracing for whatever lash she was going to receive. "Piper? Are y-" she stopped mid sentence realizing that asking if she was okay would be the worst question to ask and decided to rephrase. "Everything okay in here Pipes?"she asked seeing the woman leaning against the wall, her hand in her hair while she rested her forehead on her knees.
"Pipes?"
"No Doc. I have to go." She responded getting up slowly from the floor, passing the woman before stopping mid step feeling the cool tentacle of hers grip her wrist. "Go where. You're in no shape to go anywhere."
"I have...I have to go to my dimension and tell Victoria." She said softly making most of the spideys grow wide eyed not realizing they all had to drop the bomb for other people but it seemed like Bell had the worst job of all.
"Woah there. Take a step back and rewind. Victoria? As in Victoria Osborn? As in the fucking Gremlin that's been trying to kill you and Og-"
"Yes, her. They've been dating and they didn't want any of us knowing but Ryder is-...was my best friend. I need to tell her." She said softly, her voice being ever so quiet that it seemed a whisper. The rest of the group was unsure of what to truly say or if they should let the heroine go alone. The silence was finally broken once Recluse approached the brunette, standing beside her with his arms folded. "I'm going with you."
"Wha- no. You're not g-"
"It's not a question. You're in no state to go alone." He bluntly told her, his amethyst eyes burning into her amber ones. With a frustrated sigh, she finally agreed before opening her dimension and entering with a silent goodbye to her remaining friends.

The city lights illuminated the night, reflecting into the window of the penthouse, Victoria staring through with a concerned look on her face. She hadn't heard from Ryder for hours and she knew that he would be fighting and she knew it would be dangerous but something deep inside her told her something was wrong. The sound of a buzz from the intercom broke her thoughts, turning on her heel, her black robe trailing behind her while she tied it closer to her. She pressed the intercom, her business voice coming out, ready for whoever may be on the other side.
"This is Victoria Osborn, who is out there?"
"Victoria...It's me Piper. I need to talk to you." Piper's voice came through, a slight crack to it making the darker haired woman raise an eyebrow, curious as to what she needed to talk to her. Once she buzzed her in, Victoria poured herself a drink, waiting in anticipation of what the woman would be wanting to talk to her about. Through the years they've managed to become allies and even close acquaintances but for her to come at this late hour brought a bad feeling to her.
The knock at the door brought her back to reality before muttering that she was coming. She placed her glass on the counter before going to open the door, and seeing the spider heroine in her suit with the exception of her mask. Victoria immediately noticed that Piper was avoiding her eyes, her hands had balled up into fist while her body shook every so often.
"Piper, what's wrong? You're shaking, come in." Victoria said helping the woman in before closing the door behind her. Once she was inside, the raven haired woman was ready to ask if she wanted something to drink but was interrupted by Piper's words.
"Something happened..."
"What happened?" Victoria asked curious, carefully crossing her arms across her chest and bracing herself for whatever news she was about to receive.
"We...we were fighting Thanos and we all got badly injured...when we were recovering...w-...t-they..."
"Piper. What are you not telling me. Where's R-"
"We lost people...so many of our friends turned to dust in front of our eyes....Ryder included...I-....I'm so sorry Victoria...he's gone." She finally said, her eyes building up with tears while Victoria stared in shock.
This couldn't be right. She must have misheard or this must be a terrible joke although they way Piper stared at her, eyes full of tears and her body shaking, it meant it was true. She could feel the room beginning to spin, her body going numb as she tried to register the news.
"Victoria...I- I am so s-"
SLAP
The sound of Victoria's hand slapping Piper's cheek echoed through the penthouse. The stinging sensation burned the heroines skin as she held her cheek, unable to look at the Osborn woman was now shaking vigorously.
"Get. Out. Get OUT OF MY APARTMENT BEFORE I HAVE SECURITY KICK YOU OUT! OUT!" She screeched kicking the heroine out, her lungs burning of the force of the yell. Once she managed to get the heroine out she could feel herself to break. Hot tears streamed down her face, immediately throwing everything in her sight, destroying the gorgeous penthouse. She stopped for a moment once she glanced the photo of her and Ryder at the last charity event and suddenly the last interaction began to replay in her mind, her legs beginning to give out under before she sank to the floor, her breathing becoming rigged.
"You're not going Victoria. I can't have you be in the line of danger" Ryder told hours earlier as he zipped up his hoodie before reaching for his helmet and sighing seeing the former villain hold it away from him, a frustrated look on her own face.
"I don't recall you telling me what I can and cannot do. If I want to go to fight then that's what I will do." She argued tossing his helmet back forcefully, dismissing the groan that escaped his lips while she continued to put her uniform but gasped feeling her being pulled closer to him, her cheeks beginning to turn red while she scowled at him.
"Let me go."
"Not until you hear me out." He said with a tone of not backing down surprising the woman but giving him her full attention, curious as to what he had up his sleeve. "I know you can handle yourself. There's no doubt about that. Hell. You could probably defeat this enemy by yourself." He praised making her grin, pride filling her knowing he knew her well though suddenly her grin fell seeing his face become a bit more solemn making her raise her hand and caress his cheek before smiling seeing him hold her hand and place a gently kiss on her palm.
"I can't lose you. So please for once listen to me and just stay back? I'll go with you to that stupid charity event you've been asking, actually demanding I go to." He said begrudgingly, a chuckle escaping Victoria's lips seeing him so sweet yet stubborn. "Or we could stay home and I could show you attention~" she teased making his cheeks turn bright red seeing her grin wide before he sighed weakly and nodded at her request. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around her making her body relax at his touch, her eyes closing as she heard the last words she didn't realize would be the last thing he ever told her.
"I love you, I'll be back soon."With a loud screech she sobbed louder and began to grip her head, her chest tightening realizing she lost the one person she had. The one person who ever loved her and accepted her as she was.
"Idiot! You fucking idiot! You promised! You promised me you'd be back and...and now you've left me...how could you..." she whispered silently more to herself staring absently at the windows, her fight beginning to lose as she felt her body go numb once more. The pain being far more unbearable for her to handle as she laid on the cool tile floor, tears slowly falling as she hoped she could at least see him in her dreams before she woke up to the nightmare she was living.
