I can't describe the excitement and nervousness I was feeling as the plane landed in Los Angelos, California, where the Bachelor, Youtube edition, was being filmed. I told my family and they understood it was for fun. They knew I needed to be young and spontaneous some time and I certainly had never been before.
I took a taxi to the beautiful resort that me and all the other contestants were staying in. I saw 19 other girls as I walked in. Some of them were straight out of magazines, drop dead gorgeous. Others were fairly average looking, but still cute, the category that I believe I fall into. The girls had already congregated into cliques, it reminded me of high school. I joined a conversation with a group that seemed pretty nice looking.
"Hi" I said shyly. They turned to look at me.
"Hey!" said a tall, sweet-looking girl with red-orange hair and green eyes, "I'm Julia!" she told me. "I'm Grace." said a thin blonde girl, sounding only slightly irritated. "I'm Paige, nice to meet you!" said a pretty Asian girl with perfectly-styled shoulder-length black hair.
I smiled, they seemed nice.
"I'm Emma." I said cheerfully. I had rehearsed introducing myself under my fake name for hours on the plane so I felt confident I wouldn't mess up.I got to know them for a little less than 20 minutes when a tall man walked into the hotel and all the girls turned to look at him. He had dark hair and tan skin, and greeted everyone with a warm smile. He removed his sunglasses and said in a loud voice:
"Welcome girls! To the first season of YouTube The Bachelor! I'm Jack Romanov!"
Everyone clapped and he proceeded to explain how Youtube bachelor would be different than the regular bachelor. He told us that first and foremost, the season would not end in a proposal as we were all fairly young. This was great news because I didn't even know that the regular bachelor ended in proposals, I guess I should have researched the show more. Jack Romanov concluded by telling us that we, the contestants, will not always know what to expect as this show will not follow the same rules as the regular Bachelor, but will only follow the idea it.Jack Romanov began to leave when one of the girls I didn't know shouted out "When will we see James?!" Jack turned around immediately. "Oh right", he said "I forgot to tell you James, the filming crew, and I will be back in 20 minutes where you'll meet him. You should start getting ready, semi-casual attire." he said cool-ly and then swiftly exited the hotel.
There was compete and utter silence for about 5 and a half seconds after he left when everyone was in a state of shock. 20 minutes. 20 minutes. When that 5 and a half seconds ended: panic. Girls running up the stairs screaming happily and scaredy with as many as 5 suitcases dragging behind them as they scurried to their hotel rooms.
