"So what's the case about? Better yet who are you guys gonna defend?"
She asked them her curiosity peeked

"Well...the person that we're supposed to defend his name is Bradley
Chase, he is Twenty-Three years old,
He was accused of murdering five families one in a year, the murderer
The name is 'Killer year' every year
From what we're told
Every year he starts a massacre
On Ex-marine family or even any family that are or were hunters"

Karen said smiling at her almost teasingly, foggy nodded agreeing, bertha just
eyed them a bit taken back, she felt her cheeks redder, and her heartbeat fast

"I was wondering if you would like to go on a date with me, not a hang-out but a date"
he said seriously but then went soft, she almost dropped her phone but caught it in time, and felt so much joy

"shit...I am falling in love with him"
She said looking at the sky

Chapter 11-The Case

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The whole apartment shook, that maybe some neighbors would call the police or have been awakened, Berta covered her ears regretting her decision

"IT'S A DATE?! BERTA DON"T JOKE IS IT A DATE?!"
Ashley screeched to which Berta cringed a bit as she shoved a muffin in her mouth

"yes now please shut up 'cause I'm already regretting my decision on telling you this" Berta groaned as Ashley giggled twirling her hair

"I can't help it. I just can't believe took the step. Like J swear I would have shoved you guys to smooch" she smirked as Berta threw a pillow at her

"Shut the Fuck up, ash!"
She squeaked all flustered
As Ashley nudged and wiggled her eyebrows

She declared as beta locked her room
While hearing her friend howl in laughter
She sighed and called Matt to check up on him, it took a while until he finally answered

"Hey, matt how are-"
She started but was cut off

"When we're you gonna tell me that you decided to be the witness of Killer year?" He simply asked in a calm mood

"I was gonna tell you tomorrow if you won't let me, you know I'll be doing it either way
If I can at least protect someone else that killer year has tainted to be judged corruptly
I trust your friends, but I don't trust the other people that might be there, so you listen here matt Murdock, I will testify like it or not" she lectured stubbornly putting her foot on the ground huffing as it was silent on both ends, as all Berta heard was a chuckle

"I know, which is why I won't stop you, but if killer year does find a way about this, you know he'll hunt you down right?" He asked through the line sounded genuinely worried
her eyes soften but stayed cold as she smiled

"That's what I want...I want to ask him a few questions then take him to his personnel hell"
she simply said as matt sighed

"You know revenge will not do you any good"
he simply said as Berta looked through the window night sky

"I can't erase the past, my demons will protect so...is there no way out? of this miserable life I choose?" she clenched her fist looking down

"I won't give up on you, our friends as well, we'll protect you that I swear" he smiled as she nods but smiled
