Emma puffs hard, her legs killing her as she ran as hard and as fast she could. The finish line coming closer and closer, five meters, four meters.

'Just push it, ignore the pain... Almost there, almost there'

"Time!" Emma shouts as her feet cross the line with her best friend Rachel click the stopwatch, looking down to the watch Rachel looks back to friend who was stretching legs.

"You beat your record by four seconds" Rachel states.

"Just four? Only four?!" Emma confirmed as the disbelief of the result was written on her sweat dripping face.

"See if you don't believe me!" Rachel explains showing the face of the stopwatch, Emma walks over to get a better look, Rachel was right and slightly wrong too for she beat her record by four point thirty-six seconds.

"That's not good enough" Emma moans as she walks away from Rachel to the side of the run track to grab her bottle of water.

"You've been killing yourself with training for the last three weeks, why does this matter so much to you?"

"Because I am not gonna give that self absorb bitch Bridgette the satisfaction on beating me again!" Emma snarls causing Rachel to role her eyes.

The rivalry between Emma and Bridgette were coming to a boiling point, the three were once best friends since they were five but when they were twelve, Bridgette defeated Emma in a class competition, needless to say Bridgette took the win a few steps too far. Now at seventeen their friendship was destroyed and their rivalry just continued to grow, competing in nearly anything.

"Well the school athletics are in two weeks and you are pushing yourself way too much already and this little feud has gone too far" Rachel explains having to least try to keep the peace between the two but even that was getting too much.

"I am not the one who started it, she just always has to rub it in my face all the damn time!" Emma growls the sheer thought of giving Bridgette the satisfaction of her quitting would lead her to lord it over her, "I will beat her at her own game even I have to break my limits to do it!"

Rachel let out a loud sigh as she turns to her friend.

"Then you better pray for some miracle, for against her in track as your rate right now. you might as well be sanding still!"

Emma just growls walking away to the change room for a shower and to mostly calm down for she knew deep down Rachel was right, there was no way she could beat Bridgette at this rate but she didn't care. She had to win, she will train hard, go on a special diet, whatever the task she had to do just so she can finally get one over her. While in the shower brushing her near shoulder length brunette hair back from her face, the feel of the warm water spraying against her skin seem to relax her and her muscles which only moments ago were screaming in pain. They were still swore and no doubt they be still sore for next couple days. With a sigh, Emma turns off the water and grabs her towel. Dressed and sore, Emma made her way back home by the bus. True, she could have walked home but her legs were still sore and the cramping she already had in them were painful enough, with her stop coming up she rang the bell to stop the bus which of course did. Now off, it was a much shorter trip to her home, on the way Emma began to think over on how she could improve faster then at her current rate, she had to beat Bridgette at track the one thing the Bridgette loved and was good at, just so she could feel what she felt to loose at something you are good at.

Upon reaching home, Emma notices her parents cars were in the driveway which was expected for they would be home by now from their work. Her mother was a head of a science division for a large company while her father worked in the same company as a researcher, it was actually how the two met. Making her way into the house she could hear the two discussing something in the kitchen, no doubt a new formula of drug they have been cooking up.

"This is going to change everything, a natural enhancement stimulant that greatly improves the health, strength and well being... I got to say Laura this is something!" Emma's father stated out loud as Emma gets closer her ears picking up what they were talking about.

"We are already up to testing on live subjects and if our math is correct we should see improvements within two to three days!" her mother cheerfully states, "Best part is no side effects"
