Kang Yuna failed to get a good night's sleep; the endless anxiety kept coming back to haunt her and the overwhelming feelings of guilt continued to eat her alive. It was worse as it was before Taeyong's words of wisdom, but now that she had heard his advice, she felt like she had done something terribly wrong. And she was right for feeling so. It's not like everyday that you cross paths with an absolutely ordinary looking cat which actually is an alien from another planet who ALSO happens to be a prince! The whole case would have made any normal human go bonkers.
Yuna tried to get as much rest as possible on the bus ride to her University. Placing her head against the windows, she closed her eyes shut and tried hard to block out the commotion around her. Lucky for her, she did manage to get a short power nap before the arrival of her destination.
Her eyes fluttered open and the blinding rays of the Sun were soon to welcome her. The bus halted in front of the traffic signal; her Uni was only two stops away now. As Yuna began to prepare herself to get off soon, the female directed her eyes towards something she saw through the bus' window. It resembled the same street where she first met Zeus.
You know what they say: 'Speak of the devil, and the devil is here'. Like magic, the mere thought of Zeus brought in an identical white feline in Yuna's view, causing the girl's heart to skip a beat. She wasn't sure if her mind was playing tricks on her, but she could have sworn that the cat looked like the exact copy of the alien in its cat disguise. And just like that night, the feline was meandering aimlessly around the garbage cans.
Yuna quickly pressed the stop button to get off and skipped towards the place where she last saw the cat. Fortunately, it was still there. She ducked down to its level, grabbing it by the torso and matching its eye level.
"HEY! I told you to stay out of sight didn't I??!!" she scolded the little creature. The few pedestrians who walked past her were caught off guard, and shot her looks of wariness. "What are you doing!? WHY are you here again!?" Yuna continued, only to receive a barely audible cry of 'meow' from the kitty. She took this as a sign to raise her volume.
"HEY! I AM TALKING TO YOU!"
It was only then when someone behind her cleared their throat to grab her attention. Yuna froze in spot, inspecting the cat for a solid minute before turning around to see Zeus' figure towering above her. The fact that he was still in his cape costume, looking like some friendly neighborhood superhero, was the first thing that came into her notice. It soon occurred to Yuna that she had been yelling at an actual stray cat for the past 5 minutes.
She had made a good fool out of herself. And it was only 8 in the morning. She stood up instantly, freeing the feline soon after.
"Looking for me I presume?" he said, the hostility in his voice was evident. Yuna must have offended him a great deal.
"Ah yes," she was quick to say, head hung low.
The alien prince folded his arms, knitting his brows together, trying to make sense of her unexpected behavior.
"And why may that be Lady Yuna? After all, in our previous encounter you made it pretty clear that you had no wish to be involved with me any longer."
Yuna raised her gaze. She hadn't fully planned on how she was going to defend herself after blatantly rejecting his offer. But she was determined to redeem herself.
"Ah about that... I wasn't thinking straight and... might have acted a bit rashly because I was scared..." her voice faded to a murmur and she swallowed hard at the way Zeus scowled at her. "I'm... sorry," Yuna earnestly uttered her apology, staring holes into a point on the ground.
"Hmm..."
"Then, are you by any chance, implying that you are no longer afraid of me?"
Her eyes bulged open at his question. Did she really no longer fear him despite the fact that he was someone completely out of the ordinary? Was she really prepared to take the risk of befriending him?
But like Taeyong said, as long as the person gives you the right vibes, they can be trusted. And Yuna didn't feel any kind of danger in the extraterrestrial's presence. It was in fact, the absolute opposite, and she felt scared for him. He seemed like a naive person who needed to be kept under supervision. Especially while he's on Earth.
"I... suppose yes. Someone like you wouldn't understand how I felt that time unless you were in my shoes. The whole thing was so absurd. It still is! But, I'll take my chances in trusting you. Because I wouldn't want you to get into the wrong hands." Yuna stated earnestly, now meeting Zeus' eyes in hope and anticipation. The latter was taken aback by her honest confession but held onto her every word attentively.
"I don't know why you decided to come all the way here yet. And I can't promise you that I'll be much help, but for the time being, let's start over." Yuna decided to flip over a more happier moment. With a bright smile she extended her hand towards the alien prince.
"Nice to meet you! My name is Kang Yuna! But just call me Yuna!" she chirped.
The previous feelings of hostility that hovered over Zeus soon vanished at his human companion's words. He instead began to feel really touched. He had already witnessed Yuna's warm nature on the night she found him in a cat disguise and tended to him, but now he was certain that she was a good person indeed. Thus,he was eager to start afresh as well. Besides, the young prince was already getting exhausted from sleeping inside cardboard boxes and eating thrown away bones. With Yuna as his attendant, he could eat those delicious pancake thingys!
With a smile creeping over his face at the thought, the prince shook hands with utmost enthusiasm. In the midst of their moment, the two were disrupted by a child that came up to them, his eyes fixated at Zeus in immense wonder and awe.
"Hey mister, what hero are you supposed to be?" the kid asked, revealing one of his front teeth to be missing. Yuna's mouth was left agape and she noticed Zeus to be at a loss of words. She quickly butt in with a nervous laugh.
"Ah haha, this here is a limited edition one. It hasn't come out yet kiddo," she said, sounding real convincing.
"Really?! What's your name!!" the kid asked excitedly, turning to Zeus again but the later just glanced back at Yuna in confusion.
"We can't tell you that! It's a secret! You'll have to wait to find out."
"Hmph fine but can I get your-"
"Jinyoung-ah! There you are!"
The trio were interrupted by a lady in a formal attire, her handbag slung over one shoulder and a bag pack in the grasp of her hand. "How many times do I need to warn you about disappearing like that!?" she scolded the child who now had a frown plastered on his face, giving the impression that a very special moment had been spoiled for him.
"I'm so sorry about my son!"
"Ah no! It's perfectly okay! He was no trouble at all!" Yuna was quick to cover up for the youngster. And with one last apology, the parent and her child were soon on their way again.
"What did the little one mean by the term superhero?" Zeus asked inquisitively.
"That your highness meant you need a makeover. And fast."
