A happy morning. I was really happy and I knew the reason for this happiness but it felt weird when I admitted to it.
I quickly changed into a floral dress and skipped down the stairs to the kitchen, picking up a hot pancake as mom swatted my hands away from the plate.
Both dad and Armaan bhai looked at me weirdly and it looked like I was in a bubblegum ad or something.
"What?" I asked with a mouth full of pancake.
"Nothing–"
"Weirdo." They both mumbled at the same time. Armaan bhai earned a glare while I gave a flying kiss to dad and was about to leave for hospital when mum stopped me. Or more like what she said.
"Yeah?" I turned upon hearing my name.
"Isn't today your off? I mean you took leave right? For the wedding?" She asked, questions over questions and the piece of pancake fell from my hands.
"Shit!" I cursed as I searched for some answer.
"What? Young women, stop with that language." Mum scolded waving the spatula in air with her hand and I nodded at her.
"Look mom, I have a few things to collect from the hospital and then me and MANAAL are going SHOPPING!" I emphasized.
"You and Manaal are going shopping?!" Armaan bhai came out with his plate in his hand. Wow, he's in love.
"You go back inside armaan, you're not leaving this house today, no matter what! And you Go! But don't be late. Okay?!" She said and I saluted her with a 'yes ma'am ' and rushed out, jumping in my car and driving away.

I was grumbling. I dressed up good and wasn't late but I was taking leave today. Ugh!
"Hey sunshine!" Sara came beside me, looping her hand on mine.
"Hi." I replied grumpily.
"Somebody's cranky today..." Ahmed joined on the other side.
I revolved my finger and pointed at myself, giving Ahmed his answer.
He chuckled and went away as Ali took his place.
"Why are you not wearing your coat?"
"Why are you grumpy?" Both Ali and Sara asked at the same time and I sighed, stopping to answer them.
"Remember the wedding I told you people about, anyway, I totally forgot that I hadn't given my leave letter to the HR and today I didn't remember that I was not supposed to come to the hospital but mum reminded me and so I rushed here to give the letter and take my leave." I completed, perfectly sure that I didn't make any sense.
"Oh yeah. So you should be happy, not grumpy." Sara chimed in but how could I tell her I was grumpy because—
"Dr. Ali, Dr.Sara, what are you two doing here?" Dr.Shehryar asked them both as they made up some excuse and dispersed leaving me alone.
"Why aren't you wearing your coat?" Dr.shehryar asked gaining my attention. His eyes traveled across my dress, heating me up. Embarrassed me tried to explain but failed miserably when no words came out.
"I– I'm not here to work today." I said simply.
"Why not? Are you sick? Did something happen?" He asked, a bit worried and panicked. I wonder why? My heart swelled up at this but squeezed when I thought of the answer.
"Oh no, no, I'm okay. I told you yesterday about the wedding thing going on at her house–" he nodded, urging me to continue. "So I'm here to drop off my letter of leave to the HR."
