The things we wished for
The things we dreamed of
We thought they would just appear
and our lives would start
But nothing starts without you----New Beginnings, Daydreamer

"You can't wear leggings and my shirts for the next six and a half months, Caitlin," Grayson huffed. "You're going to have to buy some maternity clothes. Mom is willing to help you shop for some."
Cait had had an utter meltdown the day before when she decided to go into the office for a few hours before picking up Grayson's parents at the airport and went to get dressed. And realized that almost none of her clothes fit.
Her pants wouldn't button. Her skirts wouldn't zip. And her blouses were stretched tight over that bump.
She'd wound up pulling out a striped t-shirt dress that had a bit of a flared cut and pairing it with a blazer and a pair of flats. That was okay for a Friday when she was only spending a few hours in the office. And she'd exchanged the blazer for her denim jacket the night before. Because her jeans didn't fit either.
At least Grayson had played decently in the Grizzlies opener. Twelve points in fifteen minutes. That was a perfectly respectable performance. And he'd managed to snag the wife of one of his older teammates and ask a couple of questions after the game.
"Have you seen the crap they have in those maternity stores?" Cait snapped. "I might as well just go to a sporting goods store and buy a tent. I was going to try looking in New York the next time I'm there."
Grayson wanted to groan. He was leaving soon, had a one game road trip to New Orleans, before returning back to Memphis for two games. His parents were staying for the week, Sherry decreeing that Cait obviously needed some help and had to start making some plans for the babies. They could also be at the house for the start of the construction on the basement, since the contractor had to cut the new doorway before the weather changed.
The season was underway now and Grayson honestly didn't want to spend a ton of time arguing with Cait about her wardrobe. "That won't be until next week," he pointed out. "I got a recommendation for where you should go. Mom has the information. Just go buy some clothes. You can buy more when you go to New York if you want. For once, I won't say a word about what you spend. Just do it."
Cait huffed out a breath and Grayson tried to have some patience. He knew that his wife always dressed well. That she cared very much about her appearance. And that she did spend what he considered obscene amounts of money on clothes. And shoes. And bags.
He'd been warned that the place he was sending her was pricy. But for once he didn't care what she spent. And he'd told his mother not to let her come home without plenty of clothes.
Having twins meant that Cait was getting bigger a lot faster than she otherwise would have. With one baby, she might not have even been showing yet. But with two, it was already pretty apparent, a cute little baby bump protruding from her midsection.
Now that he'd gotten over his initial shock over having twins, it made Grayson ridiculously giddy to see that little bump. He couldn't resist patting it. Resting a hand on it. Or sleeping with his large hand spread across it.
