Chapter 28
Blake
After breakfast, I returned to my room upstairs and arranged it. Nathan told me that he'll catch up with me after he's done washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen. He's such a nice guy. Too bad, he's gonna be my rival upon winning Chase's heart. I was done arranging the room I used when someone knocked on my door.
It must be Nathan. Maybe he's done cleaning up.
I opened the door and was surprised upon seeing Chase at my door. I can't understand this feeling of mine that whenever I see her, time flows very slow that everything seems like in a slow-mo. She's so beautiful that I always end up staring at her.
"Close your mouth, Blake." Chase said.
"Uh..." I felt dumbfounded. "I didn't expect that it was you, Chase. Sorry." I apologized.
"Whatever. Anyways, get ready we're leaving." She turned her back on me and began walking down the alley.
"Wait, now?" I asked.
"Yes, now." Chase replied while her back was still facing me.
I closed the door and immediately got ready for our departure. Chase's not a patient woman, you know. After getting ready, I immediately came outside the house where Chase was waiting for me. I saw her sitting in the driver's seat of a black Isuzu D'Max. As usual, she always looks cool and confident in everything she does. I saw Nathan standing near her, looking at me.
"Well bro, I guess I'll see you again next time." I told Nathan and offered him a handshake.
"I guess bro. See 'ya." He accepted my handshake then I went inside the pick-up and sat at the passenger's seat.
"Bye Than, thanks for everything." Chase waved goodbye to Nathan.
"Anything for m'lady." Nathan smiled.
Chase ignited the engine to a loud roar and switched gears. After a few moments, I can see Nathan's house slowly disappearing in the distance while we're heading to the highway.
"We should be at San Venganza by almost dusk, Blake. Just ready yourself for any unexpected events." Chase told me.
"Okie dokie m'lady!" I replied.
"Ugh... Please don't tell me na nahawa ka na sa sakit ni Nathan." Chase groaned.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" I asked Chase.
"More like a bad thing." Chase replied while concentrating on the road.
I just rested my back comfortably on the seat. Chase and I had been together for some time but until now I still feel so awkward that a girl is some sort of my bodyguard, I mean, it's not that I don't like it but it's just awkward, you know. I am a cop by profession and I'm supposed to be the one saving the butts of random people while enjoying the praises of girls that says "Oh Blake, you were so brave." I know, I know, it's a bit ambitious but hey! When you're a guy and girls come to you, wanting you to flirt with them, you just can't deny the fact that you'll be enjoying every moment flirting with them.
Chase was busy driving and not muttering a single word while I was bored to the edge of the gods know where. I let out an annoying groan which caught Chase's attention but she returned her concentration in her driving. This girl is so unpredictable. Super! One moment she's so sweet, the next..she's super serious, then go back to that "poker face" of hers who has no care on the world. I slowly closed my eyes trying to shake every distraction that's going in my mind right now. I hope when I wake up everything will turn out fine. I just hate vampire attacks!
