That is if I find the right one.
-
I always liked my hometown. My favorite spot was always the antique store owned by the old lady who was as to say my mom's most trusted friend here.
Entering the door as the bell on top went of with a 'ding' signaling a costumers presence. The smell of old books and antiques filled my nostrils. It wasn't the best smell but can be handled.
"Ms. Park? It's Y/n I had promised to help you run the store. I am truly sorry for arriving at such a late pace." I called out inside the humongous store.
No one answered my reply.
My eyes wondered around the room. All I could see was the brown wooden counter for payment and assistance in front. Whilst different material items stood on each side of the two pathways. Suddenly I heard light footsteps underneath the planked floor.
Where in the world is Ms. Park?
And as to question
What in the bloody hell is underneath these ordinary planks of wood I am setting my figure on top of.
Just then Ms. Park popped from behind the counter with a wide smile similarly to those creepy Jack in the Box.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed hovering my face with fisted hands ready for defense.
"Calm dOwN Dearie, it's only me Ms. Park. Apologies for quiet the scare but I went to the basement to fetch some things."
I lowered my fists cautiously as to think an elderly woman would attack me. I sighed in relief.
Gosh dammit! I always forgot the basement under the Antique store.
I never went down there though. Wouldn't want to. Gladly won't ever.
"Anyway would you be a dear and place these items I got from the basement in their proper aisles. Please."
"Sure thing Ms. Park. Anything else you would like for me to do?"
"No Y/n that would be all. Afterwards I'll make some chocolate chip cookies and prepare some milk for ya as a reward!" She said excitedly as she waddled away.
— FEW HOURS LATER —
Gathering last of the items and placing them back into their appropriate aisles. I sat in exhaustion, my back towards the end of the pathway. I glimpsed around checking if everything was in order. My eyes then took notice of something twinkling in the distance.
Standing upwards onto my feet, I walked towards the object. I looked closer to find a snow globe reflecting the light. It was did not seem valuable but it did look very magical.
Inside it was a miniature sculpture of wonderland.
How did I know this? It was because it had a particular setting that makes it memorable.
I carefully observed the snow globe taking in its features. I had never seen one so extraordinary. It was if Wonderland was in my very own fingertips. Feeling a slight bump on the bottom then turning it downwards to see a switch; which I flip it but nothing happened. Checking for batteries in which they seem to have and to be exact; their batteries have enough voltage to power whatever needed it.
After what seemed like minutes of being captivated by a mere snow globe.
"Y/n Dearie. Are you done in there? I finished preparing the Chocolate Cookies!" She called for me.
"Coming Ms. Park! Just finished the last of the pile!"
"Okay! Come quick the milk is going to get warm; that is if you like warm milk-" she mumbled softer and softer continuously making it unable to hear a thing said. Before going to Ms. Park you took one glance and decided to take the snow globe with you.
She wouldn't mind, right?
You placed it into your hands carefully, walking over to the folding table with a plate of cookies and milk placed on top of it. Ms. Park sat there patiently waiting for your arrival. You take a seat and thanked her for the cookies. Taking a bite of the homemade cookie Ms. Park's eyes wandered to the object you had placed on the table.
"I see you have found the Wonderland Snow globe... "
"Oh, actually I have been meaning to ask some inquiries about this. I have not found anything like such from my past experiences."
"Of course, This is not your typical ordinary snow globe.."
"What do you mean? This looks about the same from every other snow globe; except for their features."
She stayed silent.
"I think you wanted to ask about the switch earlier before."
"How did yo-"
"I know this because I was entitled to give you this at the right time. That was what your mother had asked before she passed away."
You stared in confusion. She stared back evidently, her eyes showed how everything she had told was true.
"According to my observation, I think that this snow globe's light-" You were cut off.
"Yes, it's slightly broken. I was told you were to fix it. I heard from your father that you liked fixing things."
"Oh actually yes... I like fixing things, it's like a second hobby."
"As I suspected. Now run along, you probably want to fix the darn thing. The excitement in your eyes tells me everything." She smiled sincerely.
You stood happily. Thanking her as you exited the store. Safely tucking the snow globe into your bicycle's front basket along with your belongings.
Then pedaling towards your home with adrenaline rushing through your veins.
I can't wait to see what this would do!
You thought to yourself.
