I stared. It couldn't be possible. I suddenly felt extremely uncomfortable.
Jimin noticed me after a while. His eyes widened slightly and he smirked. My mother noticed us looking at eachother.
"Oh, Megaine! Do you know him? He's the head boy of your school! Top grades in everything, his parents told me. Isn't that right, Mrs. Park?" My mother said enthusiastically. I wished she hadn't said anything. I got more and more nervous.
"Oh yes, Jimin is a perfect child. Such a good, well mannered boy. I'm sure he and Megaine will be great friends!" Mrs. Park replied with a smile.
I was horrified. I would never, ever be friends with such a cruel bully. I couldn't see how Mrs. Park was so proud of him. She probably didn't know the stuff he did at school. I decided not to tell her.
We ordered kimchi, ramen noodles and a couple of more dishes of Mr. Park's preference. The food looked and smelt delicious but I did not eat anything. I just stared at my plate.
"Megaine, why aren't you eating? Are you feeling alright, dear. Do you want to catch some fresh air?" She asked.
"Yes, I think I will go outside, mum." I replied immediately. I was relieved. The sooner I got out of there, the better I would feel.
"Oh, you're going outside. You mustn't go alone, dear. These are dangerous times. Jimin, go with her." Said Mrs. Park. I cursed under my breath. If these times were dangerous Jimin was more dangerous. But I could not say that infront of his parents who thought Jimin was the most perfect, lovely boy in the whole world. As if, I thought bitterly, before following Jimin outside.
"So.." He said, once we were outside. "Your mum is on good terms with my parents, isn't she? Well that does not make us enemies then. I would do anything but I would never disobey my parents, you see, and they told me to become friends with you.... not that I want to." He added with a sneer.
"Hmm." I said, pretending to be interested in a cat licking its paw, some distance away.
"So.." He said, not taking his eyes off me. "..friends?"
He held out a hand.
