     Madeline had been with the Mikaelson family since , almost , the very beginning. When the large family moved to her small village in The New World she ends up being Rebekah's hand - maiden. A job that she had kept even after she was fed to said blonde as a small 'sacrifice' to help her transition. in exchange for helping the brunette was changed into a Vampire. One of the first , yet many , vampires to be changed by an Original.

     Due to loyalty , as well as the fear of her true death , she stayed with the family (which soon only consisted of Klaus , Elijah , &Rebekah while the rest rot away in coffins) for almost 9 centuries. That is until she finally grows the courage to escape their abusive grasps. Unable to live as a servant to them any further she fled during the late 1800's only to meet a certain Stefan Salvatore. A vampire that was just newly changed and feeling sympathetic she attempts to help him.

     The helping soon becomes loving and when they both share their mutual likeness towards another they travel along side. Even as much as Madeline attempted to keep Stefan under blood-lust control it worked for awhile until the early 1900's. A time (specifically 1922) where they end up spotting the two people the brunette would not want to meet , Niklaus&Rebekah Mikaelson.

     Unfortunately , Klaus had late seen her as well so when the police busts down the doors of the club they were partying in the said Original compels Stefan to forget them. Including Madeline , just in spite of her leaving him and his family. Unable to fix it , and still not wanting to be captured and stuck with the two anymore , Madeline flees , heartbroken.

     It being the 21st century Madeline heads to Mystic Falls when she hears a certain man had gotten his memory's back. The hope she has for rekindling her love starts to crumble when she see's that he is romantically involved with Katerina Petrova's doppelganger.
