"Uh... you have no idea, Lily. How are you not this tired, too?" Kai said, red curls bouncing.
Many of the other students were giving her odd looks. The girls snickered as we walked past, and the guys shot her quizzical looks. It made me angry because Kai and I were like family, we lived together — as Demonhunters normally did — but Kai either notice the stares and snickers, or didn't care. I was sure it was both.
We headed to the school bathrooms so Kai could attempt to wash off the dark rings under her eyes.
"Why did we have to get a call at two in the morning last night? See, this right here, is the joy of being a Demonhunter, and getting to wield that dark magic... you get calls at two in morning about old ladies thinking their cat might've been possessed by a demon. NEWS FLASH PEOPLE! ONLY B RANK DEMONS ANS UP CAN POSSESS, GOD SAVE US ALL — !"
"Kai," I hissed, slapping a hand over her mouth. "Be quiet, someone could overhear us... do you want to get us killed?" I asked exasperatedly. "And that poor old lady's cat was acting weird, you have to admit. And plus, there was actually a demon in the attic."
"Yeah, sorry..." Kai said, casting a glance out the window and down at the basketball court. "I hate hiding. Is it so hard for other people to accept that there're specific people who can use dark magic to their benefit?"
She sighed, and I could relate. All Demonhunters did was help rid their community of evils. Almost like pest control... and yet, being a known hunter could provoke other peers.
"I understand what you mean, but — "
I was cut short by the loud crack sounded from the widow at the far end of the room. The one closest to where Kai was standing. The shards of glass clattered to the floor... and resting casually on the windowsill, serenely licking on paw, was a black cat with a white tipped tail...
And red eyes.

Helllloooo everyone! How're you people doing? Anyway, this short was actually really fun to write, and the drawing wasn't that hard to do. Surprisingly, the drawing didn't have that many layers. Only 51 I think. OH WOW, LOOK AT THAT GIRAFFE NECK ON LILY... Lily's the one with the purple hair. The other is Kai. Hope you guys enjoy! 'Till next time, peeps.
