—————————————————————————

The best time to walk down the streets of my kingdom is in the early morning. Why? Well, because you're less recognized, there aren't as many people up and about, and the air is still and quiet.

Being a prince has it's downfalls. I cannot enjoy the luxury of freedom, as I am always trapped within my fathers grasp, as well as the walls within my castle.

My father, the king, is a terrifying and spiteful man. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants, even if he must use force as well as his own son.

He has decided that I need to be engaged and therefore has decided that tonight we are going to have a ball in order to find me someone to marry. Has he gone mad? There's no way I'm going to be marrying some tramp from another kingdom no matter what he says.

I frowned, thinking such thoughts has only been darkening my mood. It's a beautiful morning and I've already turned sour. I sighed softly to myself, turning a corner and seeing a familiar face.

(y/n). A beautiful girl, whom does not think of herself as such. She has the most wonderful smile, and the brightest eyes.

A gentle smile decorated her face as she watered the flowerbeds in the front of her shop. She looked so precious, the way her (h/c) hair framed her round face.

I loved her. I have loved her for a very long time too, ever since I met her.

I had been training outside for god knows how long, and my limbs had become tired. Stabbing my sword into the ground, I groaned loudly in annoyance. I surveyed my surroundings, the trees swayed, their leaves rustling in the wind. The birds chirped softly and a child screamed in agony.

Wait.

Standing up, I swiftly pulled my sword from the soil and looked towards the forest. Thinking twice, I waited to see if it was just my imagination. A minute had passed, two, then three, then another scream.

I ran into the forest, a tight grip on my sword. Stumbling upon a clearing I noticed a small girl and a man. The man seemed under the influence of something, he was swaying from side to side. I understood once I saw the broken bottled, blood dripping from the sharp ends.

Looking over at the girl, she was trembling furiously. Her body was curled into a ball, blood and dirt coated her (s/c) skin and white dress. She was sobbing, loud wails that one could never really forget.

I quickly ran and stood in between the space between her and the man.

"Who the fuck'r you?" The man slurred, glaring me. His grip on the bottle tightening as he looked me over.

I ignored his question and readied my sword.

"I'll do you one better. What are you doing?" I continued to glare.
