I woke up to a bright light, invading my cornea and making my eyes sore. I sat up and rubbed my watery eyelids then looked around. The cave was pleasantly lit up and the gems were shining as usual. It must have been morning. I stretched out my aching arms just to receive a sharp pain. I quickly put them down. I looked at the wall behind me and the Red Ruby Heart was still there, looking down at all who gazed at it.
I tried to stand up and at first I was wobbly on my feet but i managed. My legs were still hurting and shaking but they were supporting me with ease. I did little stretches to get them working and at the same time, i was formulating a plan on how to get that juicy, gemstone. I could try climbing; i remember doing rock climbing when i was younger but i would need special shoes and the right equipment but i could try it.
After my stretches, I steadily walked around, trying not to fall. The cave was beautiful and truly precious. Piles of gems were igniting in their dazzling colours. They reflected and twinkled in my eyes. A big smiled formed on my lips for how gorgeous they were. I gathered some more, I wanted to take as much as I can.
As I took my energy carefully, I was slowly gaining my strength back but I felt an incredible amount of thirst. I thought of taking a sip from the lake but i didn't know how clean the water was. I went back to my spot and relaxed for a while. This cave was such a haven to me and I still couldn't hear the beast's menacing growl anywhere. Relief overflowed me and happiness came back and replaced fear. I started to lay lower on my back as i felt more relaxed. The ground was fairly comfortable, a bit damp but comfortable. Suddenly, I heard a rumble.
It came from my stomach. I realised I have hardly had anything to eat and its been like 2-3 days I think? I can't remember to be honest, time seemed to be going so fast. Even though i can relax, my body was in fatigue and was deprived from food and water.
Maybe a little sip wouldn't hurt...
I crawled towards the lake and took a handful then drank it quickly. It tasted disgusting as well as refreshing. It didn't seemed contaminated. I took some more and I was feeling a little better. I sighed and threw my head back. The aftertaste was still on my tongue but I didn't care that much. I also used the water to clean some of my wounds and I used some spare tissue to wrap them with.
I took out my phone which was on a very low battery and I took some quick pictures. I put my phone away and continued to explore. I could hear water dripping from afar which lightly hit the ground like water dripping from a tap. My shoes were kicking little pebbles that spread out away from me.
Then i came across to three openings. I was unsure of what they would lead to so I turned back to the glittering diamonds. I was feeling so happy and overjoyed because not only was the beast not tormenting me right now, but, I was surrounded by gems, jewels and crystals and also a good supply of water. I went back to my favourite little spot and sat down. I wanted to savour this moment.
As I was in deep meditation, I heard a thump from above. It was very loud and the ceiling was slightly shaking with some rocks falling. I sounded as if it was raining. I wasn't feeling the slightest bit of fear since the cave looked stable although I have to remember I am within the earth right now.
I then felt a strong rumble under me. I think it was an earthquake. I held my ground and waited for it to stop. Rocks came tumbling down and breaking into pieces. The cave let out a loud roar as the shakes intensified. I held my ground and waited for it to stop. The water in the lake kept spurting out and spitting everywhere. Some gems were falling and lading on top of my head so I had to move.
Eventually the earthquake stopped and everything was calm again. I let out a sign of relief and laid my head down. I will try get the Red Ruby Heart tomorrow when i have more strength.
I yawned and laid down, curled up into a ball and fell into a deep sleep.
A/N: How are all of you liking the story so far? :) i really like this cave and i'm thinking of giving it a name.
