After the trials ended, Sam found a way to let go. But they still lost Cass. They searched for months but couldn't find him. Dean barely slept and he drank a lot. They didn't know if Cass was alive or dead and that terrified them. One night they decided to go to Bobby's old cabin. Sam was fast asleep and Dean had just downed another bottle when he heard rustling outside. As far as he knew, no other hunter, demon or angel other than Cass knew where this was. He grabbed the demon blade and headed out to look when he could hear faint moans of pain, and there on the ground, he found him.

"Cass?" Dean called with his voice breaking. Cass just mumbled in response. Dean rushes into the cabin and into Sam's room and shakes him violently.

"What the hell, Dean?!" Sam yells.

"Cass... I found him," Dean replies with tears in his eyes. He drags Sam outside to where Cass is laying.

"Let's get some light on him," Sam says. They both turn their flashlights on towards Cass and they're met with a grizzly sight. Cass is cut up and bloody with bad abrasions and torn up clothes.

"We gotta get him inside and get the medkit," Dean says as they wrap Cass up around them. They rush him into the cabin and Sams runs upstairs to get the medkit.

"C'mon Cass... Please be okay," Dean whimpers. Sam returns with the medkit and they start patching Cass up.

"Ughhhh..." Cass moans.

"Cass, can you hear me?" Sam asks. All Cass could do was gently nod his head.

"Dean, we need more antiseptic. Hold pressure on his side real quick," Sam says before running upstairs to search.

"Cass, can you hear me?" Dean mumbles. Cass nods his head and reaches his hand out. Dean grabs his hand and Cass gives a light squeeze. Dean's heart starts to slow down just a little as Sam runs down the stairs.

"Let's fix the rest of him,' Sam whispers as the brothers work in sync to patch up their angel. After sewing all the cuts, and cleaning up all the blood and applying bandages, Cass finally looks a little okay for the time being.

"He's gonna have to sleep on your bed. We can't risk the stitches tearing taking him up the stairs," Sam says to Dean. He nods and helps Sam carry him over to his bed. They get ice, and painkillers with a glass of water and get Cass situated.

"I'll take first watch. Go get some sleep in case something happens and takes us both," Dean says. Sam nods his head and heads back to his room to sleep for the night. Dean gets himself cleaned up and heads back to his bed to check on Cass.

"You gotta pull through... I thought you were gone. I can't lose you, Cass..." Dean whispers. Cass reaches out to Dean and laces their hands and gives a squeeze and tries to smile but really ends up grimacing. Dean squeezes back and smiles for the first time in months.

"You wanna hear about some of the hunts we've been on since you've been out? It might help you get some rest," Dean offers. Cass lightly nods his head so Deans grabs a chair so he can face Cass to make sure he's okay, and for the rest of the night, Dean tells him stories. It all blurs together after a while and then they both end up asleep.

The next morning, Sam slumps down the stairs and pauses on the last step. He looks over to Dean's bed and saw something comforting. Cass laying on Dean's bed, looking peaceful and not in pain, and Dean hunched over on the bed sitting on his chair still, holding Cass's hand. Sam thinks for the first time in months, things will finally be okay.

The End.
