Nothing in the world comes close to opiates.

A good ES 7.5 Vicodin? Fuck. But honestly, the best thing I've ever had is fentanyl. And there is not a thing on planet Earth that compares to fentanyl, except Cameron. Cameron is a close second. And then you know what would be better? Cameron and fentanyl. I don't know if she would do it with me, though. She told me she tends to stay away from the hardcore drugs like heroin, crack/cocaine, and meth and stick to the prescriptions. And I can't do both because I've noticed that Cameron does seem to be sober unless she's better at hiding than I am.

So for now, I'll choose Cameron.

I didn't know that Cameron was feeling isolated and like an outsider. The closer I got to Jules, the more she thought I liked Jules more than her. That wasn't the case; at least, I don't think it was. I do like Jules, but I've had a crush on Cameron from the moment we first got high together, back when she was still dating Nate Jacobs, and now she's finally single. I just don't know if she likes me the same way. She tends to shut down whenever she's around Jules and me.

Maybe one day I'll figure it out. But granted, after the carnival, things got really fucking weird.

"Did you two have a good time at the carnival?" Heather Baker asked her children as they all sat together at the dinner table. Cameron looked up from her plate while Chris cleared his throat because he knew his sister didn't want to answer this question.

Cameron couldn't speak; she was still thinking about what she saw. Nate hurting Maddy the way that he did. She knew Nate had tendencies to get angry, but she never thought he could get abusive. Even when they had fights, Nate had never put his hands on her, so to see that from him shocked her, and she didn't know what to do.

She didn't know if she should tell someone, mainly because it wasn't her business to tell. It was Maddy's. She couldn't take that away from Maddy, telling her story for her. If Maddy wanted to come forward, Cameron would support her, but she couldn't take that choice away.

"Yeah, it was fun," Chris said.

"Yeah... just hung out with Rue and Maddy... separately, I don't think they're friends," Cameron said, and Heather nodded her head. She was hoping for a little more, but she would take what she could get.

"Sweetheart, are you okay?" Jon asked as he looked at his daughter, Cameron met her dad's eyes, and she could see the, 'do you need to talk?' look in his eyes. She couldn't tell her dad she did molly; she didn't want to disappoint him, and she didn't want him to blame himself more.

"I'm okay, Dad, thanks. I'm going to head to bed early. Goodnight, guys." Cameron said as she took her empty plate to the kitchen, and then she went up to her room. She took a deep breath as she took out her phone and texted Maddy.
