Prologue

I wonder if someone out there actually thought that it would be funny to register someone's name in an event without telling the owner of the name. Apparently, that was the case for Kokoa Amai when he suddenly registered his partner name, Hibiki Chie in the Sweets Day program. He only informed her about what he did, a day before the big event.

Fuming with anger, "Why did you do that?!" Chie asked when Amai filled her in with the details. Chie was very upset with his actions. As her partner in making sweets ever since they were 13yrs old, Amai knew better than anyone else that she was not very good with strangers. Then, he suddenly told her that he would be sending her off into a place full of strangers, ALONE this time. She felt betrayed.

Amai just smiled. "We had known each other for 5yrs already. You are 18yrs old now, Chie. One of the top students in St. Marie University. You need to develop your own communication skills. How are we going to attract customers when we finally become a professional if you are bad at communicating. Take this as a chance." He tried to explain his actions to Chie. "but, of course you can choose to just run away. I will not stop you." He added with a challenging voice tone.

Chie clenched her fists. "You know that I can't." She murmured. Chie was a very prideful person despite being shy and reserved most of the time. Amai was exploiting her personality against herself. Chie sighed, she was trying to calm herself down. "So, what is the tentative for tomorrow 'Sweets Day' event," She asked.

"That's the spirit, Candy-hime!" Amai chimed happily after seeing that Chie agreed to his action. He clasped his hands together "You will first need to choose your pair. Later, you will work together and make sweets for people to taste. The ranking will be decided by votes from the attendees and judges. Simple, right?" He explained.

Chie rolled her eyes still feeling annoyed at Amai. "So, who is going to be my partner? You are not going to join the event, right?" Chie asked trying to make sure. She was confident that Amai already got some plan in his mind since the event would be tomorrow. She did not have enough time to search for a partner in just one day.

"I posted up on pastel team website advertisement board about Candy-hime is joining the event. Since you are famous in sweets making industry, a lot of people would like to be your partner for a day." Amai said while scrolling his phone, busy searching for something. "However, among all of them I managed to choose one that I think will be compatible with you." He added before he showed a picture of a very cute boy with bright orange hair.

Chie looked at the picture. 'He looks like a sunshine' Chie thought to herself. Even by looking at the picture alone, she could feel energy radiating from it. The smiling face of the boy was very bright. "Who is he? He looks so young."

"This boy is Izumi Mitsuki, he is 20yrs old. His family owned a shop named 'fonte chocolate', it is a cake shop. He wants to join the event because it is one of his chance to promote his family shop. When I exchanged email with him, I could feel his honesty shining through my phone. Hehehe... he gets angry easily but he forgives easily too. Then, I think that you will be fine working with him." Amai explained about Chie's partner for tomorrow in detail. "Plus, he is the type of boys you usually like, no?" He teased.

Chie sighed, she simply had no energy to bicker with Amai. 'Just what did he said to Izumi-san to cause him to get mad.' Chie thought to herself out of curiosity. However, she chose to keep the question to herself, knowing very well how cheeky Amai could get sometimes. "So, I will be meeting with him tomorrow?"

Amai nodded. "I gave him your contact info just in case. So, don't be alarmed if he texts you. I already mailed his contact info to you too. It will be easier for you to communicate with him later. I'll be counting on you, Candy-hime. Win the first place and secure our good name. You are a member of team pastel after all. Also, please have some fun on that day." He said before he left Chie alone in the kitchen.
