September first, year XXX2:
I have no idea where mom is. She said she'd be coming to look out for me with the others, so I have to take her word for it, right? Those dragon hunters really took away a good chunk of us the other day, but we're still alive, which is great.  I know she'll be fine. She's the strongest Ruby Dragon I know!

September third, year XXX3:
It's been a year since the attack. I've managed to survive on the fruits in the stream area that I've been waiting in. I've been doing pretty good for myself since it happened, mom hid me in a place with lots of resources that was far away from all the humans. I remember she told me to wait and never leave, and so I've been here ever since. Sometimes I think about leaving, but then I remind myself that I'm too weak for that. I'd probably just make things worse. I'm turning 12 in a month or so. I hope mom comes back soon, so we can celebrate together! It's been ages since we've played in the garden. I miss her smile and her laugh, and the games we used to play in the meadow. Now I'm always so alone. Sometimes I'll fly up into the sky and stare at the stars for hours. I just wonder where she is so much, you know?

September 11th, year XXX5:
I haven't heard a word from her, or anyone. I'm starting to become a bit anxious. Are they drifting away? Do they hate me? Did they find other people who were more important to take care of?
No. That can't be true. My mom and everyone else loves and cares about me.

October 16th, year XXX9:
They're not coming back....are they?

Bakugo shifted in his seat, feeling aggravated. He literally did everything conceivable to appease the King's orders and get as much bounty as feasibly possible. He had harvested the pelts of dragons all over the world of every species, from Emerald to Rose Quartz. And still, the king refused to offer his payment?

"Your fucking Majesty," he called out, gritting his teeth to try and restrain his rage.

"I have collected everything you requested of me. Every species of dragon known to mankind."

The king sighed, furrowing his eyebrows and giving Bakugo a steely stare.

"You forgot about the Ruby Dragons."

That was it. Bakugo was ticked off.

"What the fuck do you mean?! They're extinct!" His voice rang out, abusing vociferously. King Shigaraki stared at Bakugo once again, his eyebrows furrowing even more.

"There have been sitings of a Ruby Dragon in the skies. Find it and take it as yours. Then all your rewards will be given." He grinned.

"You won't be on the streets anymore."

The young explosive boy grinned. Soon he would rise from this torture and be victorious, triumphing over everyone. People wouldn't look down on him anymore. He wouldn't be the street-rat everyone despised. Everyone would love him.

No one would leave him again.

She told him to wait. Told him that she'd use her abilities to take down this monstrous empire and raise a new world, where everyone was equal. But that was nothing but a lie. He had waited for two years for that day, but to no avail. She left him alone. And for that, she and all dragons would pay.

A smirk appeared on the blonde boy's lips.

Ruby Dragon? He thought, remembering her bright red wings as they flew to the starry skies, telling him to wait as she drifted away. That dragon must be her, and he couldn't wait to hand her over to the king. His eyes sparkled with conviction and rage.
I can't wait for vengeance.

Bakugo used to care about her more than anyone else in the world. But then she left him. Left him waiting for years. And now, he finally realised that she didn't care at all. She just used him. He grabbed his supplies, getting ready to head out and find that fucking dragon.

He headed out alone, prepared for the long-ass journey he was about to endure. At least, he expected to be alone until....

"Hey Kacchan!" Bakugo rolled his eyes. It was that insufferable Deku. In spite of the two being well-acquainted by one another and even somewhat 'friends', Bakugo found that nickname of his to be absolutely demeaning. So as revenge, he had decided to call this broccoli man Deku, and so far it had worked quite well.

He sighed.

"Let me guess. You and Round-face want to fucking come with?!"

Round-face was one of Deku's close friends. Everyone thought they were together, but honestly to Bakugo that sounded like a load of bull crap. The two never actually seemed to have romantic feelings for one another. They just seemed....way too platonic.

Deku grinned, nodding his head. Bakugo groaned.

"Fucking fine. But you better be ready quick."

The wind blew through Kirishima's hair as his gigantic wings spread. Ever since he realised she wasn't coming back, he hadn't been able to turn, and that frustrated him. Even so, he stood on the branch of the oak tree that had been his home for ten years, wondering if somehow his life would ever change.

He didn't know why, but his chest swelled, almost as though something was coming.

Something that would change his life as he knew it.
