As I was walking down the street it became known that today is Harbor Day. I crossed the street, there were skyscrapers everywhere, it's an amazing city but this is the city that started it all, this city started the contract.
"Hey! ready to go?" Alice yelled as she ran across the street to me, "Hey you look a bit down today what's wrong?" She asked.
"It's Harbor Day." I sighed, I faked a smile but she noticed it was fake.
"I know your old man was the first to sign the days contract, he also never gave your mom the money when the family needed it most but you have to forget it!" Alice yelled.
"I know but it's hard," I said, "Look since your sixteen and you wanna sign the contract then let's go then." I sighed, I hated the idea of Alice signing the years contract even though she gets money she will be eaten after the amount of years she chooses.
After thirty minutes we got to the tester. We walk in and go to the front desk, "Hello, um is the tester here I want to get tested for the contract." Alice asked.
"Third floor and front door to the right, thank you for coming!" The lady said with a big smile. I looked around, the floor was white, so was the front table and the walls. I hated it, it feels like my eyes are burning.
Thirty minutes later...
I heard the elevator come down, I stood up as the elevator door opened, Alice whispered, "I will be killed, I'm on the run please don't tell anyone I will find you when I can! Okay just please lie to my parents." She said in a desperate voice.
"Oh my god, you failed." I whispered.
"He said I was Type Two and I don't know if that's code for a rank but all I know is he said I have two days to escape he also said that he did not want them to kill me," Alice whispered.
"You need to...to pack and run, if I fail the test on my sixteenth birthday I will come and find you I promise." I said while dragging her out of the building.
"Let go, it's one in the morning I have less than forty eight hours to get out of the city!" She yelled. A guard in all black bullet proof armor powered buy Cell Tech. "Oh no he heard me what do I do?" She whispered. As the guard approached us she ran for her life, soon after that she ran in to the flower field the closest place to the border of the city.
I dropped on the floor crying "Why am I the only one, first Grandpa then dad and now Alice!" I screamed a scream for the ages.
