The Bite

I was walking through the hallway for my first day of school when my twin sisters literally all three of them ran up to me smiling I was so confused I smiled at these idiots "hey Elijah guess what we are doing tonight?" They asked in unison it was creepy being a twin. I rolled my eyes laughing at them as we sat our table to eat lunch "so what are we doing tonight?" I asked them now actually curious on what we were doing Kylie stared at me all evil "we are going moonlight hiking in the woods tonight at midnight just like dad used to take us when we were kids " she said frowning. I sat in silence we all did our father died to a vicious animal attack three years ago while we were at school his body was torn in half we they only found the upper half I hope we find it tonight I thought.

I went home after school ended put on some shorts and a blue hurricane school T-shirt on and I went down stairs where my mom was slaving away in the kitchen in her nurse uniform "Míjo dinner is ready I have the late shift won't be home until the morning I have to go give me a hug tell your sisters that dinner is ready bye love you" as she rushed out the door I made myself a plate and waited for it to be midnight as soon as it hit midnight my sisters walked through the door. Kayla walked in ate some food and looked at the rest of us "what let's go before we get lazy and we all know once we get lazy we aren't going to want to make these plans again" she said laughing. I grabbed my phone portable charger my headphones  and flashlight we walked into the woods and for the first hour I was actually excited but part of me wants find the rest of my dads body. I felt happy around my sisters you know ever since we lost our dad we drifted apart a little bit now look at us back to our original bond. I was standing next to Carmen when I saw a pair of eyes blink I called my sisters over "guys do you see what I see?" I asked trying not to make any stupid moves as the eyes got closer I can see the color they were bright red Kayla snapped out her paralysis "Split" she yelled and we all took off in different directions I heard all four legs sprinting after me I jumped on a log into a tree and started hopping from tree to tree. I turned around too see it literally behind me as I jumped it grabbed me and pinned me to the ground and bit me on the side after it left me I heard three more screams and found my sisters holding their sides.

I looked at the bite and then at all my sisters then we heard a howl and we booked it home when we got home we broke out the Medical kits and started patching our bites up and when we were done we sat down by the fireplace, "so we're just going to not ask the biggest question that's roaming our minds?" She asked I put a hand on the bite and looked at Kayla "why did it let us live it was fast enough to kill us all" I said confused my other sisters shook their heads Carmen spoke up "do you think that's the same thing that killed dad?" She asked holding her tears back. We sat in silence Carmen laid her head on my shoulder I laid my head on Kayla's and Kayla laid hers on Kylie and next thing I know I'm fast asleep. I woke up to my mother talking "What happened to you guys I haven't seen you guys snuggled like this since you were babies everything okay?" She asked and I got up hugged my mom and went to get ready for school 20 minutes later as were coming out our rooms my sisters push me in my room and Carmen looked at me "did your bite heal?" She asked I forgot about the bite I lifted my shirt took the gauze off and found no blood no bite nothing it was completely gone and healed. I looked at my sisters all their bites were gone "what bit us last night because this is weird but we'll talk at lunch I got basketball practice" I said and took off running to school I was running so fast I almost overshot the school I walked up the steps where my sisters flew in right behind me and I shook my head running to the locker room.
