"Alfred F. Jones to the principal's office!"
Alfred grinned at the mention of his name. He knew it was for something beneficial because he hadn't struck another student for two days. He walked past a few students, frightening them as he passed. Every student knew Alfred had anger-issues. If they set one foot out of line, he would throw a punch.
"Enter." The principal spoke as Alfred knocked.
Alfred burst through the door and leapt into the seat opposite the teacher. "So, what did you want to see me for, T!?" He asked. Eagerly.
The principal held back a sob and glared down at the paper in his hands. "After voting yesterday, the teachers voted that you will be one of the three students taking care of the exchange students." He informed.
"Really?! Awesome! Which ones did I get?!" Alfred questioned.
"You have been assigned the British, Italian, Japanese and Chinese exchange students." The principal answered.
"British?! Sweet!!! I have to go now, Teach! See ya!" Alfred exclaimed as he rushed out of the room excitedly.
When he was sure Alfred was gone, the principal dropped his head into his arms. "Dear Lord, help us all."
Alfred rushed home with a grin on his face once school ended. He couldn't wait to boast about the news to his younger brother.
When he arrived home, he saw his brother sat in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and a peaceful expression. The expression melted away when he heard the front door slam open.
Alfred rushed to sit opposite his brother. "Guess what, Matty! Guess!"
"Um... You got an award for being good?" Matthew guessed.
"No, silly! I get to look after four exchange students! Guess which ones I got!"
"Um... Is one British?" Matthew guessed.
"How'd you know!?"
"You're obsessed with their accent, exchange students are coming from multiple nations, and you're happy. It's not that hard to guess, Al." Matthew answered.
"Everyone loves their accents! Everyone here at least. Everyone was gossiping about a British exchange student at lunch." Alfred rambled.
Matthew hummed along to his brother's rambling. He wasn't that interested in the British exchange student, but he couldn't help but wonder what he would sound like.
"Boys, dinners ready!" Their foster mother called from the kitchen.
The boys leapt up from the floor, and raced to the kitchen, eager to grab their food before the other.
Alfred won the race, of course. He won by tripping his younger brother up as he neared the kitchen doorframe.
Their foster mother, Marie, scolded Alfred when she saw what happened. However, they quickly went to eating their meals and gossiping about the day they had been through.
Matthew had made a new friend.
Marie had been promoted.
Alfred had been chosen as a guide for exchange students.
Marie was shocked when she was first informed of the news, but Matthew had nodded in confirmation, shocking Marie even more.
"Well, I am very proud of you, Alfred! You must be trying your very hardest to be good if you were chosen for such a job!" Marie praised.
"Thanks, Mum!" Alfred said happily.
Their meals were quickly devoured, and they were sent off to their rooms. Usually, Alfred would complain about the early bedtime, but with such good news, he honestly couldn't have cared about what time he was sent to bed.
