Step 1: Submit.

You became the best daughter in your father's eyes.

Submissive, but smart.

Caring, yet cunning.

Innocent, and Deadly.

12 is a significant number. It's the number of supporting characters in books. It's the last year before teen-dom.

For you, turning 12 was an obstacle.

24 hours culminate to 4 hours of getting paraded at a ball.

Tonight was your test.

Pass, and you would be deemed worthy to be your father's child.

The heir to his company.

One dance would determine your future husband.

But tonight would not end with your betrothal. You would ensure it.

Everything was calculated: three minutes with each boy, five minutes with each girl, and a total of 20 minutes with your father.

Your peculiar manner captivated the attention of the crowd. How could someone do everything so effortlessly? How could she thwart a plan that she didn't know about?

Dismissal came as easily as attention

You were too young, too innocent, to plan anything.

You were slowly gaining their love and trust- something daddy dearest didn't have.

Everyone was a fool that played into your hands.

Your smile widened.

For as Stephen King once said, "The trust  of the innocent is the liar's most useful tool."
