The cool and crisp morning. A monotonous day was upon Eira as snow gently fell from gray and ominous clouds. The day would've been any other for the citizens of this icy land of magic. Well if it weren't the eve before the tribute will be chosen. Just the thought of that made everyone nervous.

For the past week, the candidates for tribute have been watched carefully, and, unknowingly to the candidates, ranked. The high officials of Eira had gotten everything thing in place and come tomorrow at Dawn they will have an unlucky mage as a sacrificial tribute.

And no one can deny that.

While the priests and priestesses get ready for the ceremony, in one house; a quiet, little cottage, Seventeen year old Frost LeBelle laid on her bed. Sleep had only just released her a few moments before. Frost stared at a picture that she had hung on her wall; her parents and little sister all together at the Winter Festival. In the picture, they seemed to be having a good time and no one appeared to have any sort of cares. They all seem to have had one word that could describe what they looked to be feeling; pure love. And nothing could try to change that.

But, when fate stole away the light from their family when the eldest son was selected as tribute and was marched to his death. Frost and her family fell apart that day and they all made a secret prayer to not break of their family more than it already had been. But, it would be all in vain when next year's tribute will be chosen.

Death has this world marked and not even a prayer can change the fates design for these young tributes.

Death will be coming to claim its hold over them. And once it takes ahold of you, there will be no turning back.

But, maybe you can move forward instead...
