She's So Stubborn Pt. 2

It was nearing midnight when Sean parked his car out on the driveway of their house. His family's cars were all nowhere to be seen. All the lights inside were off. He knew Serris had to go back to campus, while everyone was still out of town. No one was home.

Sean let out a sigh of relief. He wasn't up for any conversations with any of his family right now. He loved them, yes. But they loved Kaycee as well. And no doubt Serris would give him an earful for what he did earlier. His sisters have become protective of his best friend.

Walking up to the front door though, he realized that he was wrong; somebody was home. And that somebody was bundled up in blankets while on one of the wicker chairs they had out front, patiently watching him as he approached her.

"It's cold out here," Sean said softly.

"It's lonely inside," was what Kaycee replied.

"I thought you already left," He expected her to just leave without him.

But she refused to go home knowing that things weren't okay between Sean and her.

Kaycee had texted her mom that they'd be running a little late and that there was no need for her to pick them up. Both of them were supposed to go back to Kaycee's after they came up with the steps for their concept video. They had an early photo shoot for a clothing brand the next morning so it was logical for Sean to just sleep over.

She had told her mom that Sean would just drive them both home. Even though she wasn't sure how long it would take before her best friend returns.

"You know I can't," her voice was low.

Sean did know because he'd do the same thing. "Come here," Kaycee got up from her chair and walked towards her best friend's outstretched arms. "I'm sorry for getting angry and leaving you, Kayc," He mumbled into her hair as he embraced her small figure. "I shouldn't have taken out my frustration on you,"

"I'm sorry, too, Sean," her chin was on his shoulder as she hugged him even tighter, relishing his warmth. "I guess I just didn't want to believe that two people that I let into my life and I trusted for years would be different whenever I wasn't around,"

"How long have you known?" He asked. By now they were just rocking side to side, refusing to let go of each other.

"For a while now," she confessed. "Remember that sleepover we had earlier this year? I was just coming back from using the bathroom when I heard them talking about how they couldn't believe I was booked to assist Tricia on her tour. That our mentors only bring me along because I'm friends with them. That I don't even deserve to be with top choreographers,"

It pained Sean hearing those words come out of her mouth. No one was as deserving of all the success as Kaycee. Her growth as a dancer and a choreographer herself had been significant these past months. How dare two people who claimed to be her friends to even think that. Kaycee's been working so hard to get where she was right now ever since they were kids.

"Then why are you still friends with them, Kayc? They don't deserve to have you in their lives,"

"I don't know. I guess I still cling on the idea that they'd eventually change," she huffed.

"You're way too nice for your own good, Kaycee," Sean started walking towards the door with Kaycee still attached to his side. He gave her a chuckle; she wasn't even hiding her clinginess anymore.

Despite being considered one of the greatest duos in their generation, it was no secret to those close to them that they often do have disagreements; that they fight over some of the stupidest of things; that they're like any other normal best friends.

But what makes them a little different—what makes them Sean and Kaycee—was their faith in each other; that whatever they fight about, whether it be big or small, they'd always go back to each other. No matter what.

That's why they were a force to be reckoned with.

Learning that both of them hadn't had dinner yet, Sean drove them to the nearest drive-thru to just order something before they got on their way to Kaycee's. It was a two-hour drive; Sean can't risk another fight just because one of them becomes hangry on the way. And it definitely wasn't him.

Kaycee had her eyes closed when Sean patted her knee to get her attention.

"We're at GOD DAMN McDONALD'S, Kayc," He announced. "What do you want to eat?" He then asked her softly, a stupid smile on his face.

"Seaaann!" She groaned, turning to her side. "You know what I always get," All she wanted at that moment was to sleep.

"I know," he laughed. "Just don't fall asleep, you have to eat first,"

Sean looked at the back of Kaycee's head as he waited for their food to be brought out. He smiled to himself seeing that she'd been letting her curls out more often after him mentioning how he liked it on her.

People always assumed that Sean, with whatever they were, was the loud one. In every aspect, he was. But in reality, Kaycee was too. She was in her own little ways. She was but it wasn't for everyone to know or see.

"Kayc, don't pass out on me," He patted her head. "I'll feel lonely while driving," he pouted even though she can't see his face.

As much as he wanted Kaycee to sleep, Sean was serious about the hangry thing. Kaycee being tired, sleepy, and hungry was not a pleasant experience. But him feeling lonely was a lie. As long as they were with each other, loneliness was nonexistent.

Everything felt normal again as they got on their way. Sean was singing along to every song he played like a madman while Kaycee tried her best not smack him on his head. She munched on her food happily knowing that even though she was about to inevitably lose two people in her life, she was content to know that she still had Sean.

That she'd always have him.
