Never judge a book by it's cover.
A few months ago I would have never thought much of the phrase. Of course we all know it's simple meaning and the trueness behind it, but no-one understands how complex it gets.To judge someone is to be one track minded. You can't get a vision of life through their eyes so you take your ways and forced them upon someone else. If they don't agree- you judge them.
I fell in love with a man who was judged.
He was judged by my father and by my mother. The people who lived in the same gated community as me dispised him as well. They didn't agree with the way he dressed or the low income that his family made. The way his hair hung to the top of his shoulders because he didn't use any products in it and just simply because he liked it that way. Whenever we held hands at charity events or dinners, women would whisper and shoot daggers at me. Men would offend Harry and my parents would look the other way as if I didn't have their eyes or nose.
None of it bothered us, they were strangers and they thought they knew what a 'good' life was. I did to, before I met Harry, so I couldn't hate them for it. Though I could hate my parents for it. They started out with nothing, piss poor begging on the streets. Slowly they made their way up clearing all records of their homeless days and I'm sure some where in the mix they must have been brain washed. Because no matter how much I told them about Hary's past, the exact one they once had, they continued to hate him.
But I didn't. I loved him. I love him. We plan to get married one day, have kids and live on our own land with the company of our friends and no judgemental people. Only close friends who love you for your ups and down, bad hair days and horrible credit days.
The ones who see,
The Good in You.
