Flashback

Kiefer's POV

"This is your chance Kief, go on approach her!" Thirdy told me. I was getting jitters. I didn't know why. I just thought she was a really good player. I have a girlfriend and I love her. So why am I getting these jitters?

"Uhh....I don't know." I said almost backing out.

"Dani's almost done with taking photos with her." Thirdy said whilst giving me a push.

"Uy, Kiefer, ikaw din?" Mika said with a cute smile. "Haha, oo sana. Idol eh!" I replied with half a chuckle.

"Ay weh? Seryoso ba? Kala ko joke lang. Sige" She said with yet another sweet smile. Man. I am so screwed.

Mika's POV

Hala, bat sila nakatingin sa amin. I thought to myself. Just calm down, they're probably talking about something completely irrelevant to me. I saw Kiefer give me this look, a confused look at one point actually, I didn't know whether it was intended for me but I shrugged it off. No need to complicate things. His sister was here taking photos with me and I bet they're just there waiting for her. 

But then, I saw Thirdy push him towards us. I don't know why but I immediately made a statement to him about wanting to take a photo with me. I was taken aback when he actually said yes. hala, anong meron. I didn't want him to notice I was shocked so I played it cool and just kept smiling. I won't be..I won't be..I won't be caught by this eagle. No. He's definitely off-limits. But his smile, and the way he looked at me.

Di naman masama magkacrush di ba? 

Well, that's what I thought anyways. I'm pretty silent about my life, so wala namang makakahalata siguro. Pero from that day onwards, I half wished that maybe, at some point we could be something. People shipped us and he never again made any contact with me after he said Hi. I understood. We weren't really friends friends, and perhaps his girlfriend didn't like the idea of him hanging out with me. We had no chance of meeting up by accident. 

So why do I keep hoping we will?

5 days after our loss to the Ateneo Lady Eagles, the unexpected happened. 

Kiefer's POV

I wanted to get away. I needed it. I wanted a fresh start. Everyone was so focused on getting me back to the way I was. Honestly, ayoko. 

I wanted to be new. I wanted to be better than who I was. 

It was pouring hard and I just kept driving on an unfamiliar road. What I didn't realize was someone was trying to get help from me. I immediately curved off the road, almost hitting the tree. I got off my car fuming furiously when I saw...

"Mika? Anong ginagawa mo dito?" I shouted at her. "I'm sorry, di ko alam anong nangyari." She shouted back while pointing to her smoking car. I immediately pulled her towards me "Halika, ihahatid na lang kita. Hayaan mo na yan, balikan ko mamaya" I guess it was impulse. I didn't want her to be injured nor to be sick. It had to be impulse. 

She gave me an apologetic smile and got on the back seat of my car. I got in and grabbed the towels that were stacked in my backpack. 

"Here." I said while handing a clean towel to her. She gave me a look "Don't worry di ko pa yan nagagamit. Baka kasi magkasakit ka" I added. She laughed "No, I was just wondering bat may towel ka nakaimbak kagad mukha namang di ka galing sa training"

"Oh. I was...going somewhere" I said. "But don't worry, iuuwi naman kita" I said and I knew my face went hot. Here I was, with the girl who I've been in love since I met. She didn't know. Trinca didn't know. Nobody knew. I kept it. I didn't know if it was love but I knew I wanted to be the man for her. 

"Um, you okay?" She asked with that sweet smile. Again.

"Yeah! Onaman. Haha, ako pa!" I quickly said. "San ba kita iuuwi? Bulacan or sa dorm niyo?" "Wow idol, alam na sa bulacan ako ah.." 

"Uy nanunuod kasi yung family ko ng interviews mo kaya yun haha nasstock knowledge" I said defensively.

"Eto naman, jinojoke lang kita. Sa dorm na lang para mas malapit kung okay lang" She said.

"Okay, sige. Pahinga ka na lang muna jan. Kanina ka pa ba nasiraan dun?" I asked. "Oo, mga siguro 30 minutes na akong naghihintay na may dumaan dun" she said with a sigh. 

"Walang dumadaan dito, unless..." I started. I stopped. I looked at my mirror and saw she was sleeping

unless you wanted to leave, be untracked, forgotten for a few nights.

Why was she a mystery? I wanted to unfold her. I wanted to know the pieces that made her.  I've always wanted to stay away from her because everyone knew, from the moment I saw her, from the moment I had a photo with her and from the moment I sent out that tweet, that..I would fall in love with her.

But I was almost certain she would never fall in love with me.

I was broken. What could I possibly offer to her?

Mika's POV

I slept for a few minutes but found myself to be restless. I peeked while maintaining my position. I could see Kiefer, and how he would constantly look at me. Its been a while since I last saw him. I definitely did not expect to see him here....while I was...getting away. Of all the times and places, but I did. And I was grateful for that.

I saw him pick up his phone and whispered. "Thirds, um wait let me check if she's asleep"

I felt him wave his hands in front of my face as if checking if I was asleep or not. 

"Yep, she's asleep. Uhh, yeah I'm okay. I just...can't stand it. I feel like if I'm around her much longer I'd pull a Ted Mosby and say I love you to her. No no no, I'll be a stone. Gotta go na, thanks for listening for a bit. I just needed to get it out." 

He loved me? Since when?
