Arthit's POV

"And now I pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

"Can we skip this part?"

"No, of course not. You should at least kiss my cheek."

"Fine." chup...

"Now we are off to our honeymoon in paradise." Krystal drags Kongpob across the garden, and through the gates.

Hi there! I'm Arthit Rojnapat. I'm 8 years old. Today, my 5 years old sister Krystal had just married my best friend Kongpob for the millionth time. I wonder how many babies does she plan on having today. We still have 30 mins before we can switch to playing superhero freeze tag. I guess this is still better than playing complete makeover. I swear Kongpob looked like a cross between Pennywise and our school principal Ms. Japoonitwat after Krystal was done with him. I laughed so hard that my stomach started hurting.

Well, it was real funny until I realized that Krystal had used a permanent marker on my eyes because she couldn't find the makeup pencil when it was my turn. You can only imagine what my mom did to us for ruining hundreds of dollars of her expensive makeup. And on top of that, I had to go to school with my face for almost for four days looking like a panda. Kongpob still won't let me live it down.

It used to be just the two of us, Kongpob and I. I'm exactly two months older than him, so I used to boss him around until he figured out two months didn't count. Those were the good old days. Okay, fine, that only lasted for like a week. We were honestly like two peas in a pod. We did everything together. Even our moms are best friends since they were little, and we are neighbors too.

Our family is so close that our yards are connected with no fences. Our moms said it gave us more room to run around. However, Kongpob's house is cooler since his house has a theatre room where the chairs can recline almost all the way down. While our house has a stupid sauna and hot tub. I don't know why my mom thinks that's a great idea when we freaking live in Bangkok. The whole place is a sauna eighty percent of the year.

Now back to Kongpob and I. We had sleep overs every weekend alternating between our houses. We never had a fight lasting more than a day. We were like brothers we never had. Until one day, my mom and dad came back with a brat called "little sister" that cried bloody murder every two hours. She didn't really bother me that much until she started walking and talking. My mom demanded that I start playing with her too. So, that is how we became this terrible three musketeers. It was so annoying that Kongpob and I had asked his mom to have a baby sister too so Krystal can pair off with another unfortunate soul. Well, that never happened. So, I digress.

"Arthit! Krystal! Kongpob! Time for dinner!"

"Coming mom!"

Yes! I don't have to play the stupid waiter for their honeymoon by the pool.

"Aww, we didn't get to the honeymoon yet mom." Krystal whines with her arms crossed pouting.

"Well, Kongpob didn't come ask me for your hand in marriage either. Not that I would object though." My mom chuckles to herself.

Kongpob and I both roll our eyes. It's Friday night, so Kongpob is staying over. I can't wait until we go back to my room and battle our Pokemons.

After bath time which took like forever because we were playing more than bathing, we settled in my bed reading mangas and eating our fourth bag of chips that we sneaked in my room.

"Arthit, are there anymore of those onion ring chips?" Kongpob asks while stuffing more chips than he can chew in his mouth.

"Nope. Those only had two days left before expiring, so I ate them all last night. I'll save you some next time."

Kongpob pouts a little before getting up to go brush his teeth.

Our family owns a small chain of supermarkets, and a few convenience stores here and there in Bangkok. While our family isn't rolling in big time, we weren't hurting for cash either. Kongpob on the hand comes from a long line of old money. They've been in the plastic and rubber business since his great great grandfather. Kongpob thinks it's a lot cooler to be in my family though since we get to have all these snacks from the stores before they expire. And I must say I agree.

Kongpob's POV

"Hello. I'm Kongpob Suthilak. My favorite sport is basketball. Something I do outside of school is self-defense training. I'm a brown belt in karate, and I train in Muay Thai. Thank you."

There, it's finally done. Why do we have to do these awkward introductions every year? Who is going to remember that girl sitting in the third row likes cupcakes more than an actual slice of cake? Okay, fine, me. That's who. I don't know why my brain just remembers these things. I guess my brain has served me well since I have tested into the advanced track, but even I think I'm too nerdy.

Well, I guess this year warrants a self-introduction since it's our first day in junior high. There's a lot of new faces I've never seen before. My best friend Arthit is on the other side of the building since he didn't make it into the advanced track. I told him to study, but he says he would just wing it, and let the chips land where they fall. Idiot! Now we are going to be in separate classes for the next three years. We've always been in the same class in the past. We were even potty trained together. Again, idiot!

Also, starting this year, we won't have to go to school with Krystal either since she is still in primary. I can't say I will miss that. I mean she takes forever to get ready in the morning. Between getting Arthit to wakeup, and getting Krystal to leave the house, it's a two hour ordeal. I mean I usually just watch their mom, Aunt Belle to me, run around like a headless chicken shuffling her kids while I quietly eat my breakfast, and read a bit. Sometimes, their father Uncle Tae would talk about business and economics with me. This morning he was explaining asset-management such as FIFO (first in first out) for inventory. I find it all very informative, and interesting. However, after thinking about it for a bit, I think there's got to be a more efficient way. I will get back to him on that later.

"Hi, my name is M Techaapikhun. My favorite sports is swimming. Something I do outside of school is volunteer at the animal shelter."

***M and Kongpob***

Hey, I know that kid. We went from first through third grade together. Does he recognize me? Okay, he just eyed me. He definitely remembers me. I gave him a smile and a little nod to let him know I recognize him too.

Lunch break. Finally. I'm heading to the canteen with my new friends in tow. I've managed to meet two other guys besides M from my class. One is Wad, and the other is Oak. We are grouped into fours for all projects for this school year. I'm meeting Arthit at the canteen as we have agreed to have lunch together everyday unless death do us part.

Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but that's the pact we made. He would literally kill me if I didn't meet up with him. Hey, is that a girl sitting next to Arthit?
