THE ROAD HOME
Tear-filled green eyes watched as Naruto and Jiraiya walked away from the village gates. They wouldn't see those same gates for another three years. No one to ask stupid questions, drag her that Ramen Stand, no more loud voice proclaiming to be Hokage.
"Don't cry, Sakura-chan. I'll return soon, and I'll bring back Sasuke!"
They were leaving. It took Sakura Haruno a few agony filled moments to realize that her innocent childhood was leaving with the footsteps of her special teamate and his sensei. Sasuke was gone as well. And Kakashi was nowhere to be seen. Hasn't been for some time, except to wish Naruto a quick farewell.
Soon, everyone who had gathered around to watch the Uzamaki leave started to disperse, returning to their normal routine.
Normal routine. There was nothing normal about this for her. She had no team to return to. Or even parents. They were away, yet again, doing Kami knows what.
Finally, when the sun sent its lasting rays across her face, Sakura found the strength to turn around and walk home. Just barely though. She still had the urge to turn and stare into the distance where the two ninja had disappeared long ago.
She was alone as she walked through the shadowy village, with drooping shoulders and defeated eyes. Already she was giving up, loosing the will to fight the battle that she wasn't motivated to do in the first place.
The house was empty and cold as Sakura walked inside. Nothing was out of its place. Though, there wasn't anything to cause much of a mess in the first place. The Haruno's didn't own many things, due to them always being away and traveling. The only thing they left behind was their only child and their affection.
Sakura's room was a very light pastel pink, a surprisingly pretty color. It was decorated with numerous plants, toys from her childhood, about a million stuffed animals, and a single bag filled with shinobi equipment.
A single bag. Nothing more, nothing less.
That's when she snapped. Red filled her vision, and loose items went crashing onto the ground. Potted plants broke and spilled everywhere. Glass shattered. A drop of blood ran down her hands, followed by a barrage of tears down her puffy face.
